326  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / -Mike LeRoy- Untitled Next Project on: February 08, 2014, 07:31:53 PM
Hello everyone, it's been a while hasn't it!?

I've been very surprised by how many people are awaiting my next album, and I'd love to say it's finally here, but unfortunately it's going pretty slowly :/

But, I'm finally ready to talk about it! My next album is going to be by far my most ambitious.

This currently untitled album is a rock opera. It will have 2 halves, but be essentially continuous with no breaks.

It will also be a bit shorter than past albums, think Friends length, to allow a nice little listening session.

So, what's it sound like? Well you've heard "It's You", but the album will feature a lot of different styles, like my past works...

What's that? You... want to hear something and I'm really slow? Well then... here's a sneak peak at a track called...
"On My Own"

It introduces the plight of the opening half, and really kicks off the album well Smiley

Please, enjoy!

Oh, and remember, this isn't even like, CLOSE to finished. So listen with casual ears Wink

THANKS!

While Air Ride is pretty simple in the racing, City Trial is VERY interesting and the game has an achievement system that would be used in Smash Brothers Brawl years later :D

I agree, GCN was basically my console of choice through that gen.

I'm planning on doing a Dreamcast video next, but I'm gonna move back to the Cube to do a review of a game I've always loved...

Hint: It's the other "Melee" Wink (and may or may not include a large Japanese monster...)

I took some golfing lessons a few summers ago, I'd say learning golf was a very rewarding experience.

However, I'll always prefer Frolf Smiley

I NEED this.

I've always really enjoyed the way songs flow on 'his' albums, too. It's a small, but important, detail that usually just goes right over people's heads. It says a lot about him that he would put care into a detail that is usually an afterthought at the time.

I especially love the first side of Friends.

It's a fantastic way to learn how to sequence albums, listening to Brian's work. Absolutely influential to my work Tongue

He sang on "Get Lucky" with Daft Punk... His name escapes me...

Awesome story! Wow, hard to believe, I just heard the bass and percussion only version. AMAZING.

Great review of Mega Drive games!

I trust that you would eventually do the Gamecube?

You may like next Friday's video... Smiley (5:00 PM EST!)

Just to get this out there, if the tapes are found, I would donate a sizable amount to recovering/transferring them for all to hear, that is if Capitol doesn't get it first.

Don't Let Her Know She's an Angel (DEMO)

I know, not released, but sooooo much better than the released version

Sped up x 39539539 and the quality's a bit rough, but darn it, I knew there was a good song somewhere in there. Shame the studio versions we have are lacking in one way or another.

I fixed the speed here: http://youtu.be/pJjWFTZY5hk

Amazing. Listened the whole way in one sitting, it's one of the best i've ever heard.

A pet sounds like experience here. Get this album if you haven't already.

Sorry for the bump, just wanted to update y'all on my album!

It's actually... And I mean this in the most humble way possible, fantastic. The songs are varried to the point that the could almost be different artists but are held together by a plot line and everything!! It's got two suites, filled with rock, ballads, a "four chord song" radio hit styled track and even some Floyd esque stuff.

I've got about 6 tracks done, but it's starting to fly now guys Smiley

Thanks man! Of course! That's one of my favorites! I've got plenty of great games for that episode... (DDR Mario mix...)

342  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / Journey of Falling OST on: January 11, 2014, 12:34:54 PM
Hey guys! I've mentioned here before that I do commissions for Soundtracks a lot but I've never actually shown anything.

A while back I did a game jam to make a game in a few hours, and I made a game called Mike: A Journey of Falling, which is a Zelda-esque game with meh visuals and stuff.

The music was pretty decent though, don't use it to judge all my stuff haha but I figured I'd share it anyway since it has a few decent parts!

Remember: this was made, like the game, in under 5 hours not including the rest of the game!!

Enjoy guys!!

Is there really a BW song called So Long? Hmmm.... :/
344  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smilers Who Make Music / Re: My Diane on: January 04, 2014, 09:32:46 PM
Strange, I was actually making a film at the time and was using a song very similar that I recorded around the same time for the credits.

Anyway, glad you like it, thanks!

I recently saw hypehat uploaded a track called Willow, it's fantastic, I'm not sure if it's original but if it is, DAMN.

Ok, as indicated by the new name of this thread, we are ditching the survivor methodology.  I know I don't want a bunch of people voting to boot my song, especially if it gets voted out first.  My guess is others won't appreciate it either.

So...we will just make a favorites list.  You can nominate your own songs if you want to.  I'll compile them at the end, we can collectively sequence them, and then, assuming we have the artists permission, I'll post them all and those who will can download them.

Also, which hypehat tune are we going to include?

EoL

Haha I agree, however even being nominated this early in is a huge honor, and a great birthday present to boot Smiley

I love the "Smiley Smile Greatest Hits" idea, that would be one hell of an album.
348  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Rare 'White Label Pressing' of All Summer Long on Ebay on: January 01, 2014, 09:33:30 AM
Just got a brand new USB turntable... this would be very nice Smiley

Oh, first order of business though, TSS NEEDLE DROP :D

I'd love to add some "touches" and a vocal part to that Smiley
350  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Best Album to Have Autographed on: December 27, 2013, 09:34:58 AM
I bought a frank Holmes print of Cabinessence from someone on here once, I got that signed by Brian, Al, and David.
I know I know, David wasn't on it, but it doesn't matter to me, it's about the moment and knowing that it was in their presence and how rare that must be...
