How weird, today I was taking a piss (literally) and I was thinking, why the hell did Al take so long to release LdL? And my assumption was because it took him all this time to realize it will never hold up to sail plane song.

Just got my copy and already feeling overwhelmed! Can't wait to peruse the Smile tracks section while listening to the album later.

I'm really thinking it was the original vocal melody. Shame he doesn't finish the last half of it it'd have been nice if this was around before BWPS as to jog his memory.

This made me think, did Brian/Darian have this recording when they were working on BWPS? Would have made a huge difference, I love that melody

I love the fact that this thread was found instead of starting a new one. I remember reading this one and I was thinking, man I bet these guys are just being harsh (especially AGD, we all know how HE is! )

But, my lord. I've gone through Discs 1-4 over and over and over all week...and to this day I dont think Ive gone through Teeter through the whole way...maybe once, but I was probably influenced...

I can't say I don't disagree with a couple of "instruments used" on a few of the sessions, but that's OK

So, since I got the set on Monday, I've had Discs 1-4 on rotation NON-STOP. Once Disc 4 ends, back to Disc 1. I finally decided to throw in Disc 5 yesterday as a novelty, and as nice it is (and heard some new things) its back off the rotation. I like Good Vibes, don't get me wrong, but I am still a bit peeved a whole disc was dedicated to it. I wouldve preferred if they made Disc 5 a few GV tracks but also included more SMiLE related stuff, maybe even some SS if they had it...

And, uh... just had a facepalm moment listening to a hidden track. The famous "million units... in January" quote refers to all Capitol releases that month, not just Smile.

That makes a whole lot of sense, I was curious why it sounded...open ended. For a second I thought it was a whole reel and the announcer was "practicing" before beginning the actual promo.

Heck, i want fleet foxes to do the vocals of SMiLE duets.
