The Beach sounds like a cologne...maybe I think that because I think that actually WAS the name of the cologne
"invented" by Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld.

I do definitely agree that the name was a hindrance, but I don't see The Beach as a viable alternate

Anyway, I think the cologne from Seinfeld is called "The Ocean", not "The Beach".

I still think they should have changed their name, whether it be "The Beach" or a different name. It would have had a major impact in their image.
And they should have done it either in the Pet Sounds/Smile era or the post-Smile era

Right you are! Still, The Beach is a trite throwaway name, inferior even to The Beach Boys at describing the depth and breadth of the music they were producing in the late 1960s, early 1970s.

Had they given her any leads I wonder if she would've been more inclined to stay with the band.

I was under the impression from things some posters have said here before that the decision to remove her from the touring band was not her choice. Does Marilyn have something against Taylor? Maybe she things Brian was going to change "She Says that She Needs Me" to "Taylor She Needs Me?"

Good stuff, the right track won IMO. Darlin' is the track that I come back to again and again when I'm washing the dishes or doing some other every day life mundane activity. A real catchy track and the best of 20/20

Seriously, God Only Knows has got to be a no brainer here. Don't want an obscure album track as only you and a few select guests will listen to the lyrics and understand their importance

Got to say I am embarrassed to be a Smiley Smiler today--voting off Little Bird is sacrilege. Good thing I didn't have money wagered on this. I sure hope this isn't an omen for how the NFL action takes place today.

My vote is to Friends again. VERY disappointed at how this voting is taking place on this album. Perhaps a lengthy congressional hearing involving the President of the US and perhaps members of the UN is in order?

Well played…I agree, between these two tracks Be Here in the Morning needs to survive--still Passing By shouldn't be gone this early, but alas it suffers from the extreme offense of being an INSTRUMENTAL (cue Beethoven's Fifth)

Tree for me...that simultaneously bad but appropriate vocal by Jack Rieley I'm not surprised Brian was move to tears when he heard it

Friends is my favorite album but Friends the track is far from my favorite song on my favorite album and thus it garners my vote this round. Love the idea of a track set to a waltz but Friends just doesn't do it for me as much as the other tracks. I am glad that the sublime Passing By has survived this far--my faith in Smiley Smilers is starting to get restored
