I wound up being in the footage UGA shot of the concert for their recruitment film; you're probably in it too.

Great photos - I envy the board members that got to see the band in their prime.

I remember seeing them with Toni Tennille in that period... remember thinking "who the hell is the WOMAN on stage?"

Those are REALLY great pictures, astroray! I was SERIOUSLY into Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille as a child, but didn't know they were connected to the BBs until later. Seeing them together onstage gives me goose bumps (she looks so young and beautiful, to paraphrase Love Will Keep Us Together). It's like worlds colliding, a la Seinfeld! :o

I was actually looking for another thread to post this in, but this one might work, too.
Back in the 70's, I designed a poster for SUNN amp's, using a shot of The Boys where you could really see them using their amp's.  I even came up with a catch phrase that they used on the poster, "The Beach Boys get a little Sunn".  Anyone have a copy of that poster?  Somehow, I never kept one, and I'd love to just see it again...

Back when the Moog used to play such a major role in the Beach Boys' music... Huge fan of both the original Holland version and the In Concert interpretation of "Funky Pretty". Always thought they were very different, in a good way.

Thanks for sharing the picture of the concert poster, by the way. Looks like the drummer stole the show from the frontman to a certain extent...

That's 'cause the drummer was a front man in those days!  This was after Dennis' hand accident, and if you look real close at the photo in the upper left hand corner, you'll see it's Ricky Fataar still playing drums.

Who was going to play it?

Thank you so much, astroray!  As I had mentioned, I was starting to give up hope of ever seeing it again...

That being said, it's funny how the mind plays tricks on you...  I remembered that I'd just used one really great shot of mine, and that The BEACH BOYS get a little SUNN was burned across the bottom of the image...  Knocked me for a loop at first, but then it started to sink in.
I was also surprised to see Jim Guercio's face blocked out in the lower left, (of course, I had to find photos that featured SUNN amps, and I hadn't shot any specifically for that reason), however, I must have still been bitter about Ed Carter getting the boot!  You can see Smilin' Ed singing away in the upper left one, though.

Did the BB's really use SUNN equipment , or did they use it just for these pictures?

Of couse they did; as I mentioned above, I didn't shoot any photo's specifically to show the amp's.  Think this came about because someone from SUNN popped in to Brother Studio's, and he mentioned to me loving how their logo looked in some of my photos.  And that put my wheels in motion...
Before the SUNN amps, I remember my earlier photos showing the SHOWCO monitors.

I love the picture of Dennis beside Carl at the bottom left of that SUNN ad.

Really love seeing pics from '73 - '74, as that was when I first saw the band live.  Looking forward to seeing more of Ed's work from that era.  Thanks guys!
