Title: Latest re-union reference
Post by: The Shift on November 24, 2009, 01:40:21 PM
Apologies if this is old news to most:

http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2009/11/beach_boys_to_play_casino_holi.html

Says Mike: “I’m not opposed to us getting together again. The year 2011 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Beach Boys as a group, and in light of that, it makes sense to get together again to do what we can in a really uplifting positive musical way."

... which must mean no law suits. I do admire Mike's positivity (is that a word?).

This sentence:

They reunited briefly in 2006 after putting their decades-long rift behind them to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their legendary album “Pet Sounds.”

... had me puzzled. Did they? Or is the writer referring to the Capitol Tower presentation?

Also this, from http://cnhinews.com/node/2596  (dated Sept 4 but new to me -  apologies if it's been referred to before):

"... my personal relationship with Brian is great.” [said Mike]
Still, the surviving members of the band continue to tour separately — Love and Johnston as the Beach Boys, while Wilson and Jardine perform with their respective bands.
But Love said that fans of the band can take heart: with a milestone in the Beach Boys’ history approaching, there is a strong possibility of a reunion of some sort to come about.
“We’re looking at doing a 50th anniversary celebration in 2011, and that would entail seeing what we could get together and do recordingwise,” he said. “And the PBS show ‘American Masters’ is interested in doing a documentary about the band. There are a lot of interesting possibilities likely to manifest in the near term.”

Brian about a month ago said he, I mean his people, have ruled it out. I also note a thread on the Brit Board hints things are not as well as they were between The Mike and Bruce Show, and Dave Marks. Not sure what thats about.
