Title: 1971 Tom Nolan Rolling Stone article (The Beach Boys: A California Saga)
Post by: The Song Of The Grange on May 11, 2009, 03:17:12 PM
The Beach Boys: A California Saga by Tom Nolan in Rolling Stone (Beach Boys on the cover).  Anyone know if it is online someplace, or published in a compilation somewhere?  I have the second half in the Kingsley Abbott Back To The Beach book.  Looking for Part One of the article.  May have to try to by a vintage Rolling Stone mag copy to get it?  I hope not.

The article was reprinted in the "Surf's Up Songbook!

And also in the "Best of The Beach Boys" songbook, printed in 1973 by Amsco Music Publishing Co.  I see the music books and the Rolling Stone issues in Ebay every once in awhile.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to chime in and say this piece also intrigues me. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'll paypal 100 rupees into your account, or - if you prefer - manually stimulate your genitalia in a pleasurable fashion.

All women?

No, not all women.  But a lot of 'em!

That 2-part Tom Nolan article sure was a good one. One of the best of all time. It was very influential in turning me on to The Beach Boys in the early 70's.

me too...i was already a fan, they were my favorite group (and did i take a load of s.h.i.t from buddies for that at that time) and i was collecting their records. i had just turned 18 when that article came out and it was what started my sickness (  :) ) of getting my hands on any and every thing i could beach boys related. i have fond memories of 1971 and those rolling stone issues.

I am also searching for this one.  I read about it in Peter Ames Carlin's biography about Brian but it would seem that it's less accessible than I imagined!
