Title: "Little Red Book" really recorded in 1967? Post by: XY on May 22, 2008, 05:27:50 AM Every time I listen to Brian's "Little Red Book" recording "God Only Knows/Mr. Sandman" from 1971 jumps to mind. The vocal nuances and Brian's singing style sound very similar. Probably complete nonsense, but how big is the chance that LRB comes from that 1971 tape?

Yes, Brian told reporter Tracy Thomas "I may end up just recording me and a piano – I tried it last night in the studio" regarding the B-side of H&V, printed February 18, 1967. That quote probably led to the widely published session date February 14, 1967 @ Goldstar. Other sources say it was a Valentine's Day gift for Marilyn and Carole Kaye played bass (?!?)
