One of the first, and maybe the best, tribute albums, from 1990.
It's a love letter to Brian from the underground music scene.
Handsome Dick Manitoba from the seminal NY 70's punk band The Dictators leads off the album with the wonderful yell "BRIAN WILSON!!!! YOU RULE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!", and the tears into Dance Dance Dance with pure beer-guzzlin' Noo Yawk ferocity.
More later.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD

I bought tis one around '93. and it is very interesting to hear Sonic Youth trying to replicate the PS
vibe on I Know theres an Answer.
and i loved the version of wind chimes, and iwanna pick you up.

But my favorite is the records version of "Darlin'" very modern interpretation.

2nd good post! Keep it up, you're on a roll.
How about the Vacant Lot's pop-punk Meet Me In My Dreams Tonight and Nikki Sudden's ghostly, wasted Wonderful/Whistle In medley?

Interesting compilation of tunes and groups and styles. The Untamed Youth do a neat garage-punky 'Chug-A-Lug', Mooseheart Faith's 'Wind Chimes' is really trippy in an almost Syd Barrett sorta way, The Dragsters 'Pet Sounds' is note perfect and 'Meet Me In My Dreams' by Vacant Lot has alot of spirit. But alot of this album doesn't require much repeated listening. Original Sins 'Help Me Ronda' is way too gawky, same goes for The Cynics 'Be True To Your School'. Sonic Youth's 'I Know There's An Answer' has great intention but I just can't get into their droning sound. Das Damen's 'Johnny Carson' is really creepy with that loop of Ed McMahon's laugh. Quite disturbing. I won't even touch Sharky's Machine 'I Wanna Pick You Up'. Much of the rest is just average indie style stuff, nothing that great.
