We are making a compilation of songs with sun or  sunshine, in the title or featureded prominently in the lyrics.

For example,  Warmth of the Sun or My Girl would fit into this mix.  We will also include such nuggetts as Walkin on Sunshine, Hre Comes the Sun, I Can See Clearly Now, and Do it Again.

I call upon the vast knowledge base of Smiley Smilers for assistance with this.   :) :)

So that's all of the first LP, most of the second (the missing tracks are When The Wind Changes, Patterns Seg.4) and all five of the non-LP 45 tracks. I don't suppose there will many mourners for Patterns – perhaps a few more for When the Wind, but although it's a shame to lose any of Phil's work something had to go in order to fit into the CD format. Rest assured that those that went did so with Phil's full agreement.   :3d

Last week I dug up some Christmas stuff on DVD. Some very obscure, like "Christmas in Wonderland". It's about 3 kids & father moving to Canada from L.A. they went shopping to the biggest mall in Edmonton & found million bucks (fake). A bit trash but it had GREAT songs! A very boring story here, but...I saw Katrina & The Waves open for The Beach Boys in 1986 at the Allentown Fair in Pennsylvania. "Walking On Sunshine" was the only song I recognized, but it did rock! As a side note, The Beach Boys played "Rock & Roll To The Rescue" that night...

Not boring the least bit - *I* never went to a show! To hear an opening act outbeat your favorite band, tho - not good.

Been listening to 'Eternity's Children'. What a great slice of sunshine pop from the late 60's. Wonderful album.

Track 1 (Again) is a helluva track. If the BB's came out with this song on the Friends album, people would be praising it still.

Finally got around to getting 'Begin' by The Millenium. Let's see how I go.

Could track 1 (Prelude) be the first hip-hop track ever recorded?

It's dull to these ears. "It's You", bonus track "Blight" is worth checking. "To Claudia on Thursday" is amusing. Maybe "Anthem". I absolutely woudn't advise it to people to show what "sunshine" music is.

I tried it a few months ago myself and think it's fantastic. Maybe not perfect, just because the good stuff is so good it makes the weaker songs all the worse, but I reckon "I Just Want to Be Your Friend", "5 A.M.", "It's You", and especially "There is Nothing More to Say" (which might now be one of my favourite songs) all deserve a spot on any sunshine pop collection. I've been off on a bit of a sunshine pop phase and it's led me to finding a lot of great music that I'm late to the party to (including Eternity's Children, and also A Midsummer Day's Dream by Mark Eric, which is wonderful).
The Sandy Salisbury solo album is pretty awesome too... it has a very fun cover of "With Me Tonight".

Edit: Larry's 45 & youtube link differ. 45 is 3:09. Youtube runs shorter, it starts with incomplete intro. Besides, echo is too distinct in the mix. Subdued in Larry's 45. & I usually like echoed vocs.
