Title: Beach Boys live 1970
Post by: bsten on January 10, 2021, 04:34:07 PM
Hmmm, lousy quality. And on the official BB channel!? How did this end up there? Just like the Feel Flows snippets - how did they end up on Allmusic?

And it looks like it's not available in the US. Or at least not to me. Sounds like I'm not missing much, though, if the audio is not good quality.

The audio is an improvement over the best bootlegs, though. Some of it is soundboard, some of it is audience.

Europe, where the copyright has expired

Also, you can have some success by plugging the videos' URLs into one of those online YouTube-to-audio converters. (The one I used failed, but upon repeated attempts I got it to work.)

Or, you can use a VPN.

Tried bot VPN set for LA and MP3 convert and neither worked. Based in Australia.

... UPDATE ... derrrrrrr ... reset VPN to Belgium ... listening now

This set is rubbish - its just an ad hoc collection of booted material - the Big Sur set includes the dodgied up mix of soundboard and audience recordings. I have copies of this show in much better quality than these recordings. No way that this a Brother authorised set.

It's authorized enough that qobuz.com is selling it...or at least *attempting* to sell it. No way I'm paying $200+ for this stuff.

I just read that a similar AllMusic incident has happened with a George Harrison collection. Apparently 28 acoustic demos have leaked on the site.

The Beach Boys topic youtube channel just automatically uploads new releases by the band. It's happened plenty of other times with grey area live broadcast bootlegs.

And how do "they" find the material?? A robot that searches the net...or the archives of the record companies... for new material... ?? Sounds very strange...  ???
