Title: New podcast with Carli Munoz on touring in the 70s, Dennis' Bambu & Jack Rieley
Post by: Mark Dillon on July 30, 2020, 07:49:30 AM
Hello all,

Wanted to let you that Surf's Up: A Beach Boys Podcast Safari has a new episode featuring an interview with keyboardist Carli Muņoz, who discusses the group's 70s touring unit. And that great organ solo on the live "Leaving This Town."  Of course, Carli was also a skilled composer and wrote songs for Dennis' projected Bambu album. Here he talks about why he felt compelled to rerecord those songs for his In My Soul album. There's a song there called "Wake Up America" that was also intended for Bambu. He reveals the inspiration behind all these songs and the sometimes crazy circumstances in which they were written. He also talks about his good friend Jack Rieley and "Constant Companion" co-writer Rags Baker, with whom he deliberately got arrested after recording the demo!

You can hear it at Apple Podcasts, Spotify and on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-93394161/carli-munoz-a-decade-at-the-keys-writing-for-dennis

Just listened to the podcast over lunch and it was outstanding. Very much enjoyed Carlis stories about Dennis and making the album and also the stories about Dennis and Christine. Top Notch podcast. Let's see we've had Bobby Figueroa and Carly Munoz from the seventies touring band how about steady Eddie Carter? He'd be a great guy to interview since I think he's the original back up musician from the late 60s. Just a thought great job guys

Thanks for tuning in, Tony, and I'm glad you liked it. We totally agree that it would be great to speak with Ed Carter. It is not easy to get all the touring musicians, however, because some of them signed non-disclosure agreements when they left. But we'll try!

Thank Mark I'm sure you will. Eddie Carter would be a great interview as well as Mike Kowalski. Another who was there since the sixties and left under not the best of circumstances thanks to Mike Love.  :(
