As far as I know, that's from the huge amount of stuff Mike did with Adrian Baker over the years. Some of it was officially released (via several mostly covers albums), some of it has leaked out, and there's probably more we haven't heard.

And it's all really pretty weak, to put it politely. It all sounds like Adrian Baker on top of cheap synths and drums machines (which I think is precisely what it is), with Mike sometimes layering some vocals in (sometimes seemingly only a lead). If it was all considered "demos" (which some of it is seemingly *not*), then I guess at least the production values could be forgiven. But all the songs are beyond bland. It all sounds like those Hawaiian Tropic and Hyatt Regency and Sonic Drive-In advertising jingles.

But no, I don't think this is really an "SIP" outtake. While Baker is on "SIP" here and there as I recall (because he was in the touring band in the 1990-92 time frame), "SIP" was a Melcher production with mostly Love/Melcher songs. All of that Love/Baker stuff is presumably written either by Baker or by Baker and Mike.

It's like a very poor man's California Girls. Don't eff with the formula...  :)

The only SIP outtake, according to an interview a Bruce gave to Mike Grant, was an unfinished cover of “Groovin’” by the Rascals.

For whatever it's worth, there may be pre-SIP session alternates for some of the eventual SIP songs. I believe Bruce had mentioned "Island Fever" in an interview all the way back in 1990 or so.

September 1990 "Record Collector" interview with Bruce:

Q: And I hear you've also recorded a song called "Island Fever"?

A: I don't know where that's gonna go - probably to another film. You'll like that. That's the poppy side of the Beach Boys. People forget when they listen to Pet Sounds and "Good Vibrations" that the Beach Boys started out as a little pop band.

The full interview is here: http://troun.tripod.com/bruce.html

It's a pretty entertaining interview. Bruce is pretty snarly, and just kind of barfs out a bunch of arbitrary, often obviously wrong-headed judgments about all sorts of things. He disses the Four Seasons, admits he watched the 1990 "Summer Dreams" movie, and a bunch of other stuff.

I've always been curious to know when Bruce really started making the turn from soft-spoken, clean-cut background guy bystander to someone who will just blurt out stuff left and right in interviews or in encounters with fans. I guess it happened some time in the 80s? And, while know knows when it comes to this guy, it may be that he's always had this 'tude, and he was just quieter about it within the group framework in prior years.
