Title: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: guitarfool2002 on February 07, 2020, 07:31:41 AM I would encourage anyone who signed the petition targeted at The Beach Boys playing the Safari Club International convention to immediately contact change.org and report a violation by the petition organizer Eduardo Goncalves. The petition with your signatures directed at The Beach Boys' performance has now been changed and redirected toward Boris Johnson and UK laws on hunting.
This is beyond dishonest to change the subject and topic of a petition while keeping the same signatures intact. This cannot be allowed to stand. The petition we signed changed from this: Eduardo Goncalves started this petition to Elliott Lott TELL THE BEACH BOYS TO STOP SUPPORTING TROPHY HUNTING! To this: Eduardo Goncalves started this petition to Prime Minister Boris Johnson Up to 1.7 MILLION animals have been killed for 'sport' and 'selfies by Trophy Hunters over the past decade. The UK government is currently holding a Public Consultation on whether to BAN hunting trophies. We call on the UK government to implement OPTION 3 for a Total Ban as a first step towards an END to all Trophy Hunting. If you wish to report this violation and/or remove your signature after this original petition has been altered, here are the steps from the Change website: A: How to Report Content - How to report a petition To report a petition on Change.org, you must first be logged into your account. Once you have logged in, follow the steps mentioned below: Scroll to the bottom of the petition page and click on “Report a policy violation” button located below the comments section. This button opens a menu where you will select a category for your report. Before you can make a submission, you must include a reason for your report. The more specific you can be with your reason for reporting content, the more equipped the Help Center team will be when assessing your claim. This is how to remove a signature if you choose to do that: Remove signature from petition Technical Help When a petition is signed, our system automatically emails a confirmation to the email address associated with that account. This email will generally have a subject line that begins "You have a message about...". At the bottom of the email, you will see the option "Didn't sign this petition? Remove your signature". To remove your signature, click on the Remove your signature link. If you happen to receive a permission error, try logging into your Change.org account and clicking on the signature removal link again. Please note that the link in this email is only valid for 30 days. And this is the link to "Contact Support" at change.org to report or inquire about this issue with changing petitions after the fact: https://help.change.org/s/contactsupport?language=en_US (https://help.change.org/s/contactsupport?language=en_US) Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: marcella27 on February 07, 2020, 01:46:02 PM It is really wrong to completely change the topic of a petition after people sign it. I am all for a ban, but I can't agree with the way the author of the petition is going about this. I would have happily signed a new/additional petition. What a terrible way to go about things.

Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: BeachBoysCovers on February 07, 2020, 02:42:24 PM Have also reported this to Change. I don't see how anyone is meant to trust a petition on there if they do allow this sort of thing to happen without impediment.
Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: CenturyDeprived on February 07, 2020, 03:01:11 PM Mike Love benefits the most from this kerfuffle.
If someone wanted to make a big distraction to take the focus off of what Mike did, they couldn't have done a better job than this. Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: SBonilla on February 07, 2020, 04:31:09 PM I'm not going to bother.
MikeBruce aren't going to unplay the concert. Dirty move, tho. Not cool, and while I still support the concept I’ll be wary of anything this character asks for in the future.
Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: JK on February 08, 2020, 03:21:30 AM This is the last online petition I sign that isn't organized by someone I know and trust.
That said... I didn't receive a confirmation email so I probably screwed up anyway. :lol Title: Re: Important Info For Those Who Signed Petition at change.org Post by: Wata on February 09, 2020, 02:14:18 AM The petition is now closed, but it appears the signatures will be sent to Boris Johnson, not The Beach Boys. This sucks so much.
I've seen a similar case where the starter changed what the petition says completely on change.org on Japanese media, and I read that it was deleted. I'm surprised it wasn't the case this time, and according to a post on the other forum, they said "it was fine for him to do that since he had posted a petition update". This cast a serious doubt on the credibility of petitions on change.org, for sure. Say, one could've probably gone from "say no to a gig at trophy hunting convention" to "say YES".
