Promoting their AZ show....A few interesting tidbits:
Al says they might all get back together someday and theres some "things he cant talk about"
also, i didnt know Al lived in scottsdale in the 80's, assumed he lived in Big Sur all the time...
Brian doesnt say much, as usual...

I recall some live show recordings from the 80s where they mention on stage that Al lived in Arizona at the time. Not sure how long that was, or why. He obviously never gave up his Big Sur property.

Nice interview overall on this one; a bit more revealing than the usual local show puff piece. I'm glad to see at least some acknowledgment from Al and a bit of discussion, even if not in a lot of detail, of Brian's ongoing struggles.

I'm curious of course what Al is referring to that he can't talk about, but I'm guessing it's probably not any sort of reunion tour on the horizon. I would guess it's some sort of archival project or something.

We have heard it before, but in that radio interview Brian does say he will only tour for another year. In the past I have taken that with a pinch of salt. Today, not so much. I said it several months ago that I would not rule out some kind of Farewell Brian deal. Just a few shows, nothing like 2012.

Al lets something slip (as he so often does, bless him):

"As to how Wilson is doing these days, Jardine says, "He's up and down, you know? Some days he's on top of the world. I'd say he's in the middle of recovery. He had a really bad situation with an infection during the last part of last year and it just knocked him over. I believe now strength is getting better. I see him getting up and down and walking. So I mean, he wasn't doing that last year. Albeit he still needs the walker, but that's for the safety because you never know with lines and cables. You don't know what you're going to find on stage. But his strength is returning and I think his singing will return as well."

So it wasn't just the operations. Something else was going on.

Al's got some great insights. I wish he'd write a book. (He hasn't, has he?)

Al's the best Beach Boy, agree. :3d :police: His book would be the best as well.

Decades ago, I read an interview with Milton Love (father of Mike, Maureen, Stan et al.) in which the Love patriarch said something along the lines that Al Jardine was the only member of the Beach Boys who had really survived being a member of the Beach Boys.

Wow, would be fantastic to read full Milton interview. I didn't think that any BBs parent except Murry been interviewed. Thanks to bring this peculiar tidbit.

For sure Audree Wilson was interviewed at least occasionally over the years. I don't know how substantive any of those interviews were. But I recall that she of course appears in the "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" documentary from the mid 90s, and she also popped up for an interview in the 1989 "Endless Summer" TV show.

Both Audree and Virginia Jardine were inteviewed for that show. Here's a clip:

I think some of the parents (Virginia, and possibly/probably Audree at some point) had interviews in ESQ magazine.

That's interesting. When you see videos of him talking with fans or being interviewed he is just a genuine nice guy, nothing phony about him. And it really does seem like Al is the anti-rockstar, you know. Someone who has other things in his life that are more important to him. Although not the same situation, but it reminds me of what Carl Perkins said, that when he gets asked what happened to him while all his colleagues on Sun became such huge rockstars, he just says "I went home".

BTW I too would love to read that interview with Milton Love. Anybody got it?

Absolutely correct, Billy! I remember the Villanova concert (72) when they were staying at a hotel up the road. Somehow, I ended up taking Al and a bunch of guys to the hotel in my 70 Chevy Camero. All of us including Al sang BB songs on the way. It was incredible! I know we covered Little Deuce Coupe for sure, so I got to sing with a real Beach Boy and I'll never forget it. And yes, and as we dropped him off, he thanked us for the ride. There's more to the story that happened in 2015 but I'll save that for another time.

I want to say it was very early 1990s, possibly done by Peter Carlin when he was writing for one of the Oregon newspapers and Milton L was living up there with Maureen, Stan et al.

Thanks! Well, Peter has his own thread here on the board. Maybe he can give us more information. I will ask.
