Off the top of my head, Smiley Smile Heroes and Villains Vegetables Fall Breaks Good Vibrations Wind Chimes Wonderful She's Going Bald Wild Honey Mama Says Friends Child Is The Father (in little bird) 20/20 Work Shop (Do it Again) Our Prayer Cabinessence Sunflower Cool Cool Water Surf's Up Surf's Up Are there any songs I'm missing? That musical section was first used in ALL DRESSED UP FOR SCHOOL. On each iteration the melody and chord changes were 'condensed.' On Dressed Up, the changes occur every two counts. In Heroes, the changes happen on every count. On Going On, the chords change on a succession of triplets. That's decent mileage. Actually 'Little Bird' has a lot of SMiLE-ish elements throughout.

Title: Re: Smile Songs Used In Other Albums Post by: Seagull Merlin on February 14, 2019, 06:17:14 PM The Heroes and Villains (or River Deep Mountain High) bassline briefly shows up in the bridge of Be Here in the Morning Darling, the arrangement of the Wake the World verses borrows from Do You Like Worms's rhythms, the melody of Whistle In is loosely adapted from "mahalo lu lei, mahalo lu la", the horn break in Time to Get Alone sounds like it's building on some ideas from Look. Had to Phone Ya has shades of LTSDD/CCW in the chord progression. Yeah you might think that's a stretch, but I bet you never realized that each of those songs have a tonic chord.
