That's a cool post, I actually enjoyed seeing all those! It amazes me how many variations there are and that I've seen for several decades when scanning the bins around the holidays. I didn't know that 8-track existed, and had no idea there was a longbox for the CD. I had never seen that before, my copy was just the jewel case with the bonus tracks, and I thought that was the first time it came out on CD "officially". Thanks for the festive education!

The cassette with the yellow spine.  That's the one I got when I was ten years old - Christmas Eve 1990.   I'm sure that tape is in a landfill somewhere, but I played the heck out of it every December until I got a CD in 2000

I have the Everly Brothers Christmas album. Definitely not a rock and roll Xmas album! Just the brothers singing traditional carols with the Boys Town Choir. That's not an album I see often, unlike the Elvis and Beach Boys Xmas records.

I think the Everly Brothers' album could've been a very strong one. But the recording of the choir is wrong imo (technically-wise). I can't explain it but it sounds so muffled....
BTW the Everlys cut a song in the late 60s/early 70s called "Christmas eve can kill you". That's a strong one:

BTW I listened to this CD just today and if I'm not mistaken, the classic Christmas songs are in stereo, while the Beach Boys originals are in mono. "Little St. Nick" is the overdubbed single version.
