Underrated Gem ??

Not by me, sir -

I rate it as a minor classic. Actually, if I were to compile a BBs double disk, this song would finish it.

Absolutely a gem !  Brian wrote a lot of beautiful waltzes, and this is one of the best ones ! Beautiful chord changes and melody !

Not underrated by me. It's one of my absolute favorite Brian Wilson compositions. Absolutely beautiful in every single way, from the vocals to the track.

Also interesting is the co-writer credit to Carl. I wonder what he contributed? Lyrics?

An incredible little gem that I find myself revisiting often since released. Would have fit nicely on Friends.

Underrated Gem ??

Id say underrated in that few outside of BB fans know it exists.

From the greatest accidental album ever 20/20.

Best album review I ever read!

IWTS is a small, pastoral, highly personal piece of art.

Thanks to all -

your replies remind me of my personal opinion: BW is the greatest impressionist painter in all of pop music. Small, personal letters from him mean so much to me - he is sort of an everyman, in the literary sense. No bragging about big achievements in our quite insane society.

VDP remarked that SMiLE 2004 for him was like a wonderful collection of beautiful post stamps.

He is right about this. Life is not at all about getting filthy rich, and having sex with untold numbers of women.

Beautiful post, sir. And agreed with OSD that "IWTS" would have fit well on Friends, an album of pastel tints.

YES! One of my favorites.
When I need a pick me up I listen to the vocal track. As someone with a lot of experience with choral music, the harmonies blow me away

A lovely, limpid, luminous arrangement.

Is there any other song that captures the experience of lying around on a serene summer day, nodding off while you half-listen to the soft ambient noises coming through an open window?

Brian's lyrics can be clunky ( "a musical song"), but he's but one of the few writers trying to capture the small, mundane, yet numinous moments that make up a quiet day.

Yea... I Went To Sleep in replace of Transcendental Mediation. WOW! Friends would be right next to Pet Sounds and Sunflower..

A pretty little tune.  Overall, a minor addition to the canon....perhaps subconsciously reveals the impending bedroom years....

This.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's too short.

This, Time To Get Alone and This Whole World are the three Brian Wilson songs that are the most dearest to me. His peak achievements, everything good about life and love compressed into those three miniatures.

Yes add this and We're Together Again to Friends and make Transcendental Meditation an instrumental with backing vocals only, and Friends surpasses Sunflower as the next best album to PS.
