This is a thread dedicated to things that Mike Love may not have actually said, but very easily could have said. While listening to Pet Sounds and thinking of potential friction that took place among the band, this Mike-could-have-said-it quote popped into my head:

"Art belongs in a museum. This is rock n'roll. Don't f*** with the formula, Brian."

"Brian look at me.....look at me....I'm the Captain now."

This interaction more than likely didn't occur, but it COULD have, right?

Brian: Hey Mike, check out this demo for "Surf's Up".
Mike: Surf's Up, eh? If it's about waves, cars and babes then you're on the right track! Hit it!

Mike: WTF?! What does that have to do with surfing?! I don't just dislike it, I abhor it. I've been working on something much better.
Brian: What's that, Mike?
Mike: It's called "Transcendental Meditation".

*Mike walks up to Brian before a sound check on the C50 tour*

Mike: Hey Brian, I have a lyric idea for a song, wanna walk over to the piano and see if you can put some chords to it? I thought we could put it on the follow up to our Radio album.

Brian: Sure Mike!

*Brian gets up from his black recliner, chugs the rest of his Diet Coke, and heads over to the piano to work on a song that will end up going on their #4 charting album The Beach Boys Yesterday!*

I guess Brian had surf nazis around him all tour long if Mike couldn't have had one conversation with Brian like this. You don't need a mystical room to get a collaboration going, even a stage with a piano on it two hours before a show works.

True that, post that to every Mike interview from now on.

Mike: So its gonna be about this girl in a bikini visiting all the old surf hangouts in a Corvette!

Brian: Err...I think they are  laying out the lunch buffet in the next room.
