I remember hearing "Friends" several times on British radio back in '68. Every BB 45 was an event in the UK in those days. Perhaps not on a regular rotation in most oldies stations, but it was the flip side to California Girls and is on most best of compilations I've seen. He mainly discussed Smile, and how VDP just about "ruined" the Beach Boys by creating lyrics that they weren't ready for. He said that the Beach Boys just wanted to sing about surfing, so the album never came out.

She played a lot of good music over the years in NYC on WNEW and WFUV.
