Title: Israel and the Middle East
Post by: Charles LePage @ ComicList on July 24, 2006, 04:49:48 PM
Hizbullah announced today "We are going to make Israel not safe for Israelis. There will be no place they are safe.  You will see a new Middle East in the way of Hizbullah and Islam, not in the way of Rice and Israel."

The Bush administration would like to see the Middle East move closer to democracy and representative government, using Iraq and Afghanistan as the beginning of the movement.

Who do you think will succeed in the long run?

Whoever wins, we lose indeed.

To address the issue, I must humble disagree.  I believe neither attempt will get to the point that we could call them successess, but I think it is a noble effort to help the Middle East see the light of political and social freedom.

But Bush is going about it the wrong way, making it look like to outsiders, the "big bad US" is trying to run Iraq with a "puppet" government. Every time he opens his mouth, he pisses off  half of the world. Even if his intentions are good-(debatable, but that's another story)- his words and actions are faulty.

Well, in just a couple of years, Bush's mouth won't be an issue anymore.

When I first registered to vote, I registered as a Democrat.  Even voted for Jesse Jackson in a Presidential primary.

It didn't take long to be in what we call the "real" world to register as a Republican.

Political parties will not save your soul anymore than, well, message boards, but I couldn't remain a Democrat.  I looked at the party and saw I had almost nothing in common with it.
