And just to get your creative juices flowing, here are some familiar words (lined up by RengaWagneR). [Edit: For this special occasion, the original words "con/no" have been changed into the more festive: "coy/yo"! Here's hoping that jk won't mind(?):]

             ->ONE-Nil !   OR a coy ...?

DOGS, "PET*S.", 'SLOOP's, spools, steps, 'GOD' ?

             YO!  "CAROLINE, NO"?<-

Uh-oh. Great minds think alike, it seems:

> "Re-rut cellos or eat?" "Si----L.A. ice." "PS rawks!" (AJ). Blonde (on a CD) canoed. No, LBJ. Ask war specialist, aerosol lecturer. <

ANY kind of poems will do! Like a limerick (from SMiLE-Rick) or whatever ...

PET SOUNDS, an album 'bout getting to ...

love one we dream of - then letting go!

           Painstakingly wrought

        like the TRAIN-afterthought

And the cover was shot in a PETTING Zoo!

Wouldn't It Be Nice to listen to Pet Sounds every day.

I Still Believe in the fact that it sounds just as good now as then.

Others may prefer Sgt. Peppers, but That's Not Me

When I put on Pet Sounds, please Don't Talk

I'm Waiting For the Day when I get to see it live in person

Lets's Go Away For Awhile and listen to Pet Sounds on the way and maybe take a ride on the Sloop John B

God Only Knows how many times I've listened to it

I Know There's an Answer to the above question

I wish I had a copy Here Today with me

The album came out 14 yrs before I was born, proving I Just Wasn't Made For These Times

Pet Sounds is great

I can only assume songs are okay as well. This one of mine (to an appropriate tune) is lifted from my other board, regrettably dubbed the Sloop John K (which explains the first line). The italicized words or syllables are an attempt to mark the first beat of a bar where it gets sticky.

"We're off on the Sloop John K
With Steve Douglas leading the way
His flute line introduces the words of verse one
Then in comes the bass
All over the place
There's so much happening
And we've hardly begun

"So thanks be to Al Jardine
Whose folkie instincts had seen
That the Kingston Trio song would be great for their band
So Brian went home
Worked it out on his own, yeah yeah
And when they all woke up
The song had been done

"The first and third verses were Bri's
Mike gave the second a try
The harmonies were the work of Carl, Dennis and Al
And Mister John-ston
They had their microphones on, yeah yeah
When the tracks were mixed down, it sure sounded swell

"So thanks be to Al Jardine
But even he hadn't foreseen
That the instruments would drop out halfway through verse three
(Astonishingly)
One twist of a knob (one twist of a knob)
(Mike sings the low bits)
Was enough for the job (was enough for the job)
(Bri sings the high bits)
While Banana (or was it Louie?) was upstairs having a pee

"Now one verse needed a change
So Brian called Billy Strange
And had a shop open off hours to buy a guitar
A 12-string and amp
For a sixteen-bar vamp
Bri said 'Take the gear and this cash----what a hero you are!'

"So thanks be to Al Jardine
And despite all the gossip there's been
It wasn't Capitol who said let's put it on the LP too,
Brian meant it to be
On Pet Sounds, you see...
Now the record's finished
Next stop is the zoo!"

'Tis 1966. Brian is #cello-brating# in the Studio. The Vietnam war is on and LBJ, the president. Carl (being a "conscientious objector") is standing up against him and a war-lecturer (Kissinger?). [tanka-palindrome by RengaWagneR (w/ SMiLErPal'dromerBoy) featuring BRIAN, Marilyn (here PET-named: Blondie?), AL, CARL and "PETer LACEY"! [Tanka-palindrome Poem by RengaWagneR:]

       ->"Re-rut, Cellos OR

eat!"  Si, LACE*: "P*S  r a w k s!"

      "A.J., 'Blondie' - I'd ..."

   "NO!, LBJ. Ask war-spec'alist/

          Aerosol lecturer!"<-

Not sure if it qualifies as a poem.  More like a mess of sentences.

With "Dumb Angel", Brian had Dennis in mind! On Pet Sounds too? [A haiku-D.Rome(o) by SMiLE-Rick:]

A Limerick by RORY EWINS (speedysnail). In his original limerick, he mentions SGT. PEPPER. in line IV, but I turned that around (for Beach Boys-chauvinistic/revisionistic reasons only) :

A day in the life of a band

That's impossibly talented, and

A response to their peers,

[The PET SOUNDS] fuelled fears

There'd be no other album as grand.
