Title: Bubbly Waves plays Debussy
Post by: alf wiedersehen on December 15, 2015, 04:48:14 PM
This is a recording on an electric piano of "La fille aux cheveux de lin" I recently made as part of my piano lessons. It's not perfect, but I won't give you my excuses.
You can check it out by clicking here (https://soundcloud.com/orwelle/la-fille-aux-cheveux-de-lin) if you would like to listen.

It's beautifully played with sensitivity. Congratulations.

Why, thank you, Emily.

My daughter and I have music time right before lights out each night. You were featured in tonight's program.

Reading that honestly made me very happy.
I'm glad you like it.

Thank you. Now that I've "finished" this one, I'm in the process of figuring out what I'd like to play next.
I'm thinking of going with either Brahms or another piece by Debussy.

You should try Scriabin. Sort of a mix between Chopin and Debussy. Very "nighttime" sounding, if that makes sense.

Way to Go Bubbly!!  Now that the first one is under your belt... Let the SoundCloud float with rapturous notes.

Really, just excellent.  I didn't hear any bad notes, you'd have to point them out.  Glad to see you join the music cats that play around here.

Less than stellar? Not a bit of it. Proficiat, sir!

As for a follow-up I'd endorse TRHPWBB's suggestion of something by Scriabin, this for example:

But at the end of the day it's your choice. I can't advise on Brahms but I remember enjoying playing (after a fashion) Debussy's La cathédrale engloutie and Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll definitely check them out.

There aren't any bum notes (that I'm aware of, at least), there's just a few pedaling and timing things I would do differently.

I always thought it was really nice, and you did a great job, Josh! Also, the Desper quote in your signature is wonderful.

Thanks, Zach. I, too, think the Desper quote is wonderful.  :-D

I tried to play this song last night and couldn't even get past the first four notes.
