Very, very sad.

H&V, I think he was the second oldest Brother -- that's him on "II x II" I believe, he took over the primary songwriting chores when the oldest -- Bill? Do I have the name right? -- left the group for a time.

That poor Cowsill family had it hard, much akin to the Kennedy's. Shame.
Did they just locate him from months ago? Man, I can't imagine.

Old Rake - Barry was actually kid #5, just a year older than brother John. He was incredibly talented and funny, but like two of his older brothers, struggled with addiction and the aftermath of so much childhood abuse. Brother Bob had arranged for him to enter rehab, but Katrina changed the course of a lot of lives.

He's a teenybopper singing lead here:

He's in the hat on the right in this:

I remember that Barry would play periodically in some of the local clubs down here in New Orleans. His sister Susan has lived here for many years.
He rode out Katrina and made a phone call afterwards indicating that things weren't going well for him (some landline phone service remained in the area near the river). Don't know how he met his end but it was a scary time then, no electricity or drinkable water, and chaos.
Very sad.

The official word was drowning, with his body found under a wharf. YouTube shows part of his jazz funeral in NOLO. At a memorial
held in his home state of Rhode Island his family learned of oldest brother Bill's passing.
