Title: Anyone know who the faces in the bushes and clouds are on the cover of Friends? Post by: ajsmith on October 20, 2014, 02:13:56 AM The red figures the centre are obviously a portrait of the group, but I was wondering if anyone could definitely suggest whose faces are pictured in the bushes and clouds? Are they band members, or associates, or others?

The wistful collection of faces that appear in the billowing clouds and the throughout the green landscape offer a tranquil, calming sense of well being to the proceedings, and whilst the actual artwork may leave it difficult at times to work out exactly who is represented in each area of the frame the overall impression is one of extreme warmth. The instantly recognizable, cherubic face of Brian appears through the clouds in the top left corner of the sleeve, whilst the image of Alan appears on the opposite side, but just who the remaining faces represent is open to discussion. Certainly, the small image to the left of Alan (wearing sunglasses maybe ?) is remarkably non-representative of any of the Beach Boys and one wonders if the artist, a certain David McMacken, whoever he may be, ‘snuck’ that one in on the sly … Title: Re: Anyone know who the faces in the bushes and clouds are on the cover of Friends? The clouds were always a guessing game for me. Under Al, it looks like Carl. The sunglasses? Maybe Stephen J. Kalinich or Desper?
