Title: Great Dennis quote.
Post by: Reverend Joshua Sloane on May 13, 2006, 04:23:02 PM
"Because of the attitude of a few mental dinosaurs intent on exploiting our initial success, Brian's huge talent has never been fully appreciated in America and the potential of the group has been stifled.... If the Beatles had suffered this kind of misrepresentation, they would have never got past singing 'Please Please Me' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' and leaping around in Beatle suits."
-------------------Dennis Wilson, 1970

Such a true statement!

Go deep into the wondrous world of imaginary outcomes to unrealistic events!

Very true. I wonder if they, that is Dennis and the Boys, realized this at the time, when changes to the band's image were crucial?

I bet at the beginning of 1967, the Beach Boys thought they had been around a while and were a popular and established act, so they didn't think they could fall out of favor as quickly as they did. In the Barney Hoskyns book, "Waiting For The Sun," he described Monterey Pop as the death of pop music.
