Just saw this one too...RIP Horace.

On another personal note, I actually met him in 1994 backstage after he heard some of my arrangements at a concert done at Berklee's performance center. I had written some arrangements and conducted the live band for those songs as part of a "Singers Showcase" concert, and it turned out Horace Silver was a special guest in the audience. Sure enough, there he was backstage after the show wearing a great hat and with a big smile on his face talking to the musicians. Very, very cool experience.
