Seems like it's a popular place!  Maybe it's Brian's local store.  It's cool to see him doing 'normal' things.  To listen to some reports you'd think Brian needs someone with him at all times, which is not the case.  I wonder if he strikes up some polite conversation with the shop assistant or if he's in and out like in some of his one word answer interviews!

According to Google Street View it's also a disabled space.  In the UK Brian would need a blue badge to park there.  Maybe with his bad back he's got one!  I had read before about him driving himself around, guess he still gets around.  Good to see him still cruisin' after all these years.  :-D. This is true! He's in a handicapped parking spot and the "blue wheelchair" designating the spot handicapped is clearly visible in the space! He must have seen it before he parked there. And there's plenty of other spaces available, but I guess he doesn't care - he's just in and out with a bottled water. Unless he has a handicapped sticker on his car, that's a very expensive fine in California if he gets caught! I know he can afford it, but he can buy a lot of steaks and birthday cakes with that money. Anybody know what year/model that Mercedes is? I think it's a Mercedes.....

The pictures of Brian and the two different Mercedes's are from various years. Maybe those are both his and his wife's, or he traded one in to get the most recent one. I saw a picture couple of years ago where Melinda had just bought an SL 500 convertible. So who knows how many cars they have. Melinda use to sell them. Maybe they're even leased and they get a new one every couple of years, who knows. Damn nice cars though, eh?

I'm surprised no one's considered that he just had the car painted a different color (white or black, I dunno which came first).

What I really like about the pictures of Brian alone with his car is that there are none of those fabled "handlers" around that supposedly take every bit of ability to act autonomously from him.

I too have been wearing the same line of Nike Cross Trainers for years.  Very stable base for an old guy to walk on.
My wife saw the pic of Brian wearing the same shoes on the C50 tour and has teased me mercilessly since then.

Unflattering photos of this band are vexatious. If a photographer can't take flattering photos (of all their subjects) they should find another line of work.  Sometimes you need to take a hundred to get even one that is quality.  It makes the photographer look as bad as the subject.

It's so strange how pictures taken split seconds apart can look so different.  I think the reason some look bad (like the one above) is because they catch your face in a transition from expression to expression, Sometimes I'll pause my t.v. while I'm doing something and it'll just randomly pause in a really awkward way on somebody's face, I'll actually unpause it and repause it!  It almost seems disrespectful to leave someone's face frozen in a weird way....

Unfortunately after the notorious snack-bar shakeup of '09 that left K&B catering in charge, nachos and hot wings were no longer available in the Lakewood civic center.  Mr. Wilson was never the same, and became visibly agitated, often angry with his play by play... once described as a "Retiree's symphony to God".



Ensuing years saw management take increasing measures to appease the fans, who loved Mr. Wilson but had little knowledge of just how much his love for Nachos had clouded his natural talent for calling games....  first, they turned down his microphone; eventually denying him his headset alltogether for games.

Looking at that picture reminds me how young all the Wilson Clan (that includes Mike) developed grey beards

I was watching the 1980 Washington DC video awhile back, and it dawned on me that all of the guys in the band at that stage were in their late *THIRTIES*! Carl is only 34 freaking years old in that footage. I don't know how much of it is a case of them just not aging super well back then, or fashion of the era just making them look older, or what.

But even in the mid-70's, they all seemed to kind of look like guys easily in their 40s.

Looks like Denny pioneered the BB-member-at-the-far-left-with-hand-awkwardly-in-pants-pocket look, that Mike co-opted a few years later...

When Mike shaved his beard, he looked alot younger. So did Al and Brian Dennis, not so much. Too much hard living.

Al easily shaved ten years off his seeming "age" when he got rid of the beard in 1983.

As for Brian's grey in his beard, I don't know if he was doing anything by 1985 when they took those album photos, but photos in 1984 show some noticeable grey:

I was actually going to post about this, because this photo is currently up on PaulMcCartney.com's Q&A section. Paul shared his memories of the Vegetables session and being asked to chew celery. But this photo with Gary Busey looks like it's from the early 90s. I wonder what the context was.

Could care less about Busey but it's good to see Brian & Paul together. Brian's pullover is very dandy.

McCartney used to do a birthday bash each year for Buddy Holly, and of course Busey played him in a movie. I wonder if it was one of those?
