I bought it for the Picture inserts. Mike's still looks incredibly suggestive to me.

Overall a satisfying collection albeit with several nagging flaws.

 1) They couldn't cram "409" and "Be True to Your School" in somewhere???

 2) "All This Is That"...OK it is a fine track, but its inclusion means no "Til I Die" or "Marcella" or "Feel Flows" or any number of better early 70's cuts.

 3) The Brian, Dennis, Al and Dave pics are fine but they could have done better with Mike, Carl, and Bruce. Something with a beard for Mike maybe.

The music is easily a 5, but both CDs could easily have been crammed with more quality tracks. Overall, a 4.5 rounded to a 5. Short of the box sets, it's probably the best compilation on the market despite the strange omissions.

It's optional, you don't have to if you don't want to...

What about The Platinum Collection?

The Platinum Collection has a few blemishes. I don't know who the hell was screaming for the Status Quo version of Fun Fun Fun despite it being a UK hit...that sh*t fucking sucks in my opinion.

The Platinum Collection is a UK product, hence the inclusion of the Quo and Fat Boys tracks.  ;D

I'm probably going to add more of the UK and other European and Asian compilations in the future.

Great song selection. Lots of variety (especially on Disc 2). I'm glad they added You're So Good To Me, Add Some Music and This Whole World. They are great as any song on the Sounds of Summer Cd. The Photos are neat although the booklet is useless. I also found that the box is a bit too big. The Smile 2cd box was a perfect fit. Great compilation overall.

5/5

This CD has great songs. It has most of the best songs these guys ever sang.
Although it's a greatest hits compilation, which are generally meant for attracting new fans.
And NO ONE would be attracted to this awful cover.....   >:(

If you're trying to get somebody into The Beach Boys, this is a good start.

But personally, I prefer the companion collections Sounds of Summer and Warmth of the Sun.  Between them, you get 58 tracks.  And WOTS has Til I Die.  To me, you can't have a BB collection of 50 songs without that one.
