Hawaii again.  Not sure what I get what is so loved about it when compared to the rest of the tracks left.

Surfer Girl, Catch A Wave, The Surfer Moon, Little Deuce Coupe, In My Room and Your Summer Dream are the really good songs on SG. I'll hate to see any of these songs go.

Well, Hawaii is pretty good too I guess.

This is difficult; everything left on the album is good!  I guess I'll go with "Your Summer Dream," the remaining song to which I'm most indifferent.

You kidding? Catch A Wave is a classic - those intricate harmonies, and such an inventive arrangement.

The Surfer Moon is a good song, but to me the backing sounds more like something that belongs on side 2 of Christmas Album or a Four Freshman song - very nice of course, but not particularly 'Brian'. He'd not yet quite found his voice re orchestration.

So, my vote goes to Surfer Moon.

Because it's the only Beach Boys song you can effectively do the Carlton Dance to.

Now all I can picture is "It's Not Unusual" showing up in the middle of this album.

It's one of the 3 most overrated BB's singles (the other 2 in the overrated trifecta are "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Kokomo"). Just because it's one of their more famous songs, they always play it live, and it always appears on compilations, doesn't mean we like it.

Yes it does! Don't speak for all of us. The 45 of Fun Fun Fun/WDFFIL is what turned in me on to the Beach Boys as a kid, back in early 1964.

Yeah, Fun Fun Fun is awesome. The backing track of Hawthorne made me appreciate it even more - those chord changes!

I guess you're right, Disney Boy (1985). It's only my opinion, and I know a lot fans like that song. but "Kokomo" and "Little Deuce Coupe" are indisputably overrated.

"Catch A Wave". Some of the worst Beach Boys singing (Not because of Mike Love, for once i'll excuse him as he had a cold at that time). But it's the Organ part that destroys the song musically. Some of the worst Organ i've ever heard, and I love organs!
"Your Summer Dream" is a million times better than "Catch A Crap"!

Not a bad song, I actually quite like it but I think it's the weakest of the remaining songs.

No dislike for it at all. His is like being asked to choose which of your children must die.

Summer Dream goes because of the bum note, is all. Oh, and the fact that Chuck forgot to bring up the harmony vocals when he was mixing it, making it a Brian solo piece. On a Beach Boys album. Other than Denny's Drums, there weren't many solo outings for anyone in the early days.

"Your Summer Dream" again.  I like every song on Surfer Girl except "South Bay Surfer" and "Surfer's Rule," so I don't dislike "YSD," but I feel that in comparison to the other songs left, it's missing something.  That "something" is probably backing vocals.

I'd also like to dispute the claim that "Little Deuce Coupe" is indisputably overrated.  It's got a nice trot-like rhythm, great group vocals, and some terrific Roger Christian gear-head lyrics.  It might be my favorite song on the album, which is saying something since I love "Surfer Girl," and "In My Room."

You must have one of the weird mixes. There was a series of mixes by Joe Thomas that removed key elements from lots of songs, like the flutes from Good Vibrations, the car sounds from 409, or in this case, Peter Gabriel.
