Title: Tom Hanks Post by: wilsonart on August 06, 2013, 05:10:14 PM BAD show in mpls...Mn. Zoo.
Not since the voice of Tom Hanks called out for Wilson has the night air been broken with such a heart-felt emotion. Minne sometimes wants to claim Brian as a native son; his mother after all was born in this state. W-I-L-S-O-N W-I-L-S-O-N thru two lengthy standing ovations, after god only knows was finished. Mr. Jardine had to say he felt emotional as he turned toward Brian and said “You deserve this –so fantastic!” It was not a perfect eve in Minne, a light rain fell several times during the first set. You could see it dance on the small lake with each of Brian’s songs. Not that far away Minnehaha Falls echoed thru the night air, almost daring you to picture Longfellow’s young Indian maiden Hiawatha setting back and listening to Brian’s voice on Heroes and Villain’s. On the ride home we passed Mary Tyler Moore’s statue tossing her tam into the air in a scene of celebration. Ole Mary must of enjoyed the magic eve as much as the rest of us. The Hiawatha transit train rolled past, soon to be out of sight. At this point, I realize at some time we all need some of Brian’s music in our lives. Wishing you all this kind of night. Pretty clever. Title: Re: Tom Hanks Post by: Rocky Raccoon on August 06, 2013, 06:43:40 PM I get the Tom Hanks connection. Tom Hanks had a ball called Wilson in Cast Away. Pretty clever. He's also married to actress Rita Wilson. I don't know what that has to do with anything but as long as we're talking about Tom Hanks. Title: Re: Tom Hanks Post by: Iron Horse-Apples on August 08, 2013, 11:43:07 PM Sorry I lost you people with tom hanks and the movie castaway with the wilson reference. Language round here tends to be direct, and to the point, with that little spoonful of bitchiness which makes you wonder why you post here. But keep it up. There's a place for everyone here. Carve yourself a niche. We've got anal retentive covered, bitchy commentators, well, there's a surplus. Humour, we're good, but flowery prose.....not as well represented as we'd like. You carry on. Title: Re: Tom Hanks Post by: RangeRoverA1 on August 09, 2013, 05:45:29 AM I recall reading here that Olivia attended one of the PS shows in London. Cool to know she prefers The BBs, not The Beatles. 2Rocker: actually, she's not originally from SoCal, according to wiki, her birthplace is Mexico City.
Re "Cast Away": the scenes with Wilson ball are the best in the film. I was very saddened when he'd lost in the water. Very touching & sweet moment. If I were in the main character's place, I'd miss Wilson too; he seemed so loyal & understanding & incredibly kind to his friend. Of course, sometimes he was also disobedient but who doesn't quarrel with their friends? The heroes quickly reconciled afterwards. Title: Re: Tom Hanks Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on August 09, 2013, 07:07:54 AM It would have been interesting if in Cast Away, Hanks had an orange ping pong ball he called Love. That way when Wilson fell in the water, Love would still be around and could claim that he was actually the ping pong ball that kept Tom Hanks company. Love would tell others that Wilson was a great ball, but he had to drown himself. Then a fisherman named Landy comes across the ping pong ball and saves it out of the water. When he brings it back to Hanks, Love gets put on the shelf and Wilson is the best friend again. Love files suit.
Ok, I've lost it! Title: Re: Tom Hanks Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on August 09, 2013, 07:51:05 AM :lol

And I can do what I wanna do And Castaway from that empty life And my world is a box of chocolates' Would reach #1 if rerecorded by Beach Boys when said film came out.
