Title: Til I die vibes question
Post by: punkinhead on April 26, 2006, 09:31:45 PM
i remember a long time ago, somebody said that the vibe parts of til i die are playing barbra ann...i dont hear it at all, is this just someone being an idiot or is it true? I know Brian's got a huge sense of humor when recording, but didnt think he would on the song that made him so small

"Till I Die" is a very harmonically complex song, whereas "Barbara Ann" isn't. I also doubt that Brian, producing one of his most melancholy and moving songs would throw in such a silly reference. I don't really hear the bit unless someone can point something out.

Listen to the version on the Hawthorne CD.  The vibes are prominent on that version.  But I don't hear it, either.

There is a very small part where the ascending line resembles the bassline of Barbara Ann, but it lasts about three notes; that is all.
