Title: Show 73: Royal Albert Hall - London, UK 9/27/12

Thought it'd be good to set up these last threads a little early for any big plans people may have for these special shows....

I've seen the BBs in various incarnations probably more than a half-dozen times, and BW himself probably two or three dozen times… but the hairs on the back of my neck just stood up!

Lovely photo. Good to see him in this very natural way (as opposed to the piccies where he visibly was trying hard to look happy).

Brian hosted a band and crew dinner last night in London to show his appreciation for a job well done!

Don't ask me why Mike and Bruce are not there. Since it's a dinner hosted by Brian there was only steak, so Mike had nothing to eat and left earlier... ;)

Totten and Cowsill are there so I doubt it's over any fallout as is being suggested most places; maybe they were doing some PR (maybe one of them was holding the camera!)!

For sure! But to tell you the truth (and this is of course only my guess) I don't think they'll do any "new" songs (like Surf's Up) and also don't believe they dig out "Prayer" again. Can't say why I think so but the impression was made that Mike doesn't like to do "Prayer" for whatever reason.

I think there's a much less chance of that happening at the Royal Albert Hall than at some outdoor venue with folks throwing beach balls around, tho.

I had that happening at Irvine throughout the entire second set. Good seats, too. Hey, let me pay a lot of money to talk nonstop about Gary's affair tonight!

A friend was at the show, it's finished and apparently they've played all the songs they tried on tour! Getcha Back, Pet Sounds, I Just Wasn't Made, Our Prayer, Marcella, Wendy.. etc, everything! and they added Summer's Gone.

You can only imagine how bad i'm feeling right now for not going to the UK for that show (i live in Europe atm).

At the hotel after the gig - wow! What a show!

The only gig I'll see on the tour, but picked well! Brian was ON form, really really on. Never heard him speak so much, even came back for a third bow and said "See you again, drive safely", first for this tour.

Summer's Gone was a very unexpected second encore. Our Prayer sounded great.

Hope there's a Dvd of this gig, deserves it

Yep, there were cameras on stage, no massive TV production type ones, but the professional looking handheld ones - am sure we'll see some clips turn up soon!

The ovation after IJWMFTT was massive, the biggest of the night.

Was something very special about it, think the band liked the venue. Hopefully all the Wembley goers tomorrow get the same gig!

Forgot to say, didn't write a setlist, but Scott announced they were doing 61 songs! Not bad, it finished bout 11:15!

Folks sat in front of us talked through Our Prayer, heroes and then some. They seemed to be with the band - accents, handbags etc.

Incredible night though - nothing could spool it.

One of the best bits of Summer's Gone was at the beginning. Al leaned against Brian's piano, to watch him sing to. Brian said "Al... Move!". He clearly needed to see Jeff. Sweet moment.

It's not technical perfection, but it's so achingly beautiful in that setting that it's breathtaking. Thank you for getting that footage.

Haha missed that bit John!

Didn't have a very good view of Brian from my seat, but was it just me, or was he not using a teleprompter? I suspect he was, but it didn't look like it was in the mock piano like it normally is? Anyone who went know?

Seemed like Brian wanted to play Summer's Gone. Maybe reading into it too much but probably a small hint in doing it.

Before we get carried away with the "Summer's Gone" hint...I would put it up that Brian trusts UK audiences to appreciate the song in the proper context.  It's one of the most powerful songs on the new album, I think Brian enjoys it for its emotional weight and wanted to perform something special for this audience.

YES , just goes to prove what all of the BB's think of the UK fans THE BEST BY FAR !
We are so so lucky , I think Wembley (possibly the last ever BB's gig) is going to be at least very emotional and special

The other thing about Summer's Gone - and I think it comes across in the YouTube clip (many thanks for that!) is that Brians voice was coming from another place. He was more alive and having fun, and throwing himself into these performances - and enjoying himself tremendously - than I have ever seen him in the 32 years I've been seeing him. Musta helped that Mrs BW was in Row 5 smiling and waving.

Wouldn't surprise me at all now if the reported antagonism in the band is a put-on… no acrimony evident at all.

Even Mike seemed to go through a realisation that their music is something bigger than he might have appreciated before - this was an ecstatic reception (only the clowns sat in front of us acted disrespectfully to the music but I'm guessing they didn't pay for their tickets).

All's voice was a joy - his numbers really rocked and brought the place down.

heavily recorded, one big camera on stage,  two under the stage, small fixed cameras pointed at eaxh person on stage.
61 songs: Our Prayer, Summer's Gone, Little Girl I Once Knew, Still Cruisin, Pet Sounds, Add Some Music, etc.
Best BB-related show I have ever seen,  beside Smile premiere.
Brian in best voice and spirit ever.
Surf's Up is not happening tomorrow either.

Ask me anything.

That's so rad. How long was the concert? Did you get footage?

Our Prayer was in. Night closed with second encore - Summer's Gone.

Folks sat in front of us talked through Our Prayer, heroes and then some. They seemed to be with the band - accents, handbags etc.

Incredible night though - nothing could spool it.

Wouldn't be surprised if  you were near Mike's family, Ambha, Emily and Colin Love.

They come across are extremely arrogant and conceited. "Driving my dad's bentley" etc
Boy, now we are trashing the Love children, too? Un-f***ing-believable!

Don't know who the folks were sat in front of us but they did themselves the disservice with their behaviour, is all. Guessing they were with the band cos they had a set list which they kept referring to.

Like I said though nothing could spoil Tonight. Sheer magic.

This was not the same band that played the Later… show in the week!

Easy, I'm not a Mike hater by any stretch of the imagination.

I just know they were at the gig and they were tweeting how they weren't exactly sober due to the "open bar" backstage. Pretty classy

Although my cards got full in the middle of two songs... and guess which ones of all songs??  >:(

I like the sound of that!  I sure hope we get a nice chunk of this show.  There is somehing so damn right about having the Beach Boys perform this venue.  I'd love to see it myself.

I guess what I mean is it's laughable to suggest that this is a rock and roll show that invokes a lot of drinking and debauchery. It's a pretty family friendly, mild affair and certainly not what I would call "rock and roll."

It's not about what I'd call it or what genre it is. It's about the implication that "oh man it's a rock and roll show, everybody gets drunk at those." I'd call it a concert.

It's so good to hear the performance of "Summer's Gone"!

I was hoping that after the 50th Anniversary tour, they would do a smaller tour in promotion for the new album, which I really have been enjoying. Probably not too likely, but it'd be great to hear some of the new songs live.

Thanks for sharing the clip!

I get that it happens but people payed through the nose for those tickets, the Albert hall is a pretty classy venue and it's also a very special concert for some..

Not being loud and obnoxious and sparing a thought for the other people there isn't asking a lot. I'm sure you've experienced loud and obnoxious people at gigs or elsewhere, it's pretty irritating

Anyway on a more important note: Summer's gone sounded great

During the song, he's over next to Bruce and Scott. He's also there for the final bows, then goes to the front of the stage to wave and shake hands with the crowd.

And as someone pointed out earlier...where's Brian's teleprompter?  Could they have replaced the monitor on his keyboard with a larger screen across the way in the crowd for a more subtle presentation?

Want to see part one and to note, if possible, Dave's guitar work; this was a bold and stunning choice for a last song. I think these boys are going nowhere. From a promoter's perspective the chaos has doubled their stock. A real BB concert now would be a powerful and valuable event.  But  it is time for an assurance. . . .tell us please what's happening. It's starting to taint the soundtrack of our lives; I want to be able to hear Cherry Coup and "Shift" and every song sweetly and not bitter-sweetly.

thanks for the lovely song

So to everyone who attended:

How much did the Mike vs Brian "drama" hang over the crowd?  A lot of people here (and online) were worried that all this drama had effectively marred the reunion, practically "jeopardizing" the two UK shows....  Was it a topic of conversation in the crowd?  Did the crowd's "resentment" manifest itself in any way during the show?  Were there any boos for Mike?

 Some answers:
- yeah, people were talking about the "break up", but on stage there was no palpable tension.
Actually there were even smiles and jokes between Al and Mike and Al and Bruce.  So no dramas on stage.
- the usual teleprompter was gone . I think he was using a new, super thin, glass/ transparent  one  but initially  I though he didn't use any.  I intended to verify this but then  I forgot..
- Mike's kids Amhba and Brian were there, but as far as I noticed they behaved just fine

Brian hosted a band and crew dinner last night in London to show his appreciation for a job well done!

Don't ask me why Mike and Bruce are not there. Since it's a dinner hosted by Brian there was only steak, so Mike had nothing to eat and left earlier... ;)

This recording reminded me how unlikely it was that the BBs would come up with such a great song in 2012 fit to stand along with the 60s classics... And how I would have liked to hear more songs from the new album live.

Who's doing those loud flat notes in the backing vocs though? They are a bit... annoying.

Will it now be the last song at the last Beach Boys concert, too? And what a change to have "Fun, fun, fun" as the last song to "Summer's gone". The Beach Boys ! Wow!

This morning the Jurassic Rock station that I listen to sometimes mentioned that last night's show was the last for the original Beach Boys and said that Mike Love 'fired' Brian, Al, and Dave. People called up on their radio hotline saying it was disgraceful what Mike did. One caller mentioned that Al lives in Big Sur, not far away from the Bay Area.

So in tribute to the band, they played "Cameltoe", to the tune of Kokomo.

For those who where there - did Mike challenge the Stones to also play a gig of 60 songs (including "Jumpin' Jack Flash" & "I Get Around")?

Lowbacca: That's funny!!! - a tip of the hat to you for thinking that one up!!!

Hands down the most impressive set list ever associated with this band.
It's so impressive that it looks like an uber fan made it, something that other people would laugh at and be like, "they're not gonna do anything like THAT"! And then they go and do it.
We need video of this whole thing.

Amazing set list.

They were totally right to just unload every song they had in their arsenal....and why not?  I'm sure the crowd ate it up.

Kudos to Mike aka "Mr. Positivity" for allowing the show to end on a slightly somber note with "Summer's Gone."  It really works perfectly, I wish they had done it when I saw them.

Yes...kudos to Mike indeed.

I think it's especially great that he put "Our Prayer" and "Heroes and Villians" together...the way it should be.  Even though they didn't do "Gee"...it's a logical pairing.

Wonder what Wembley will be like tonight!

Does anyone else wish they'd been able to attend this instead of the reunion gig in your area? That setlist completely SLAYS the Florida show I saw, hot damn! If they release a DVD, it should definitely just be this show.

Not really.

RAH got a great list but I wouldn't necessarily trade it for any of the shows I went to.  I mean, it's not like flying over to London was a possibility anyway.  So, I am quite at peace that I wasn't able to attend.  But as you say, it'd be nice if we got this show on DVD so we could all enjoy it too.

I know what you mean but i wouldn't trade "my" show. The concert was fantastic and it was cool to meet all the other guys before and afer the show. A really, really great evening was had by all (I guess)

Wouldn't trade the shows I saw at the Hollywood Bowl or New Orleans Jazz Fest...both iconic events...and the show I saw at Irvine was better than either of them...so no.

Wow! 61 songs! That's incredible.

I'm wondering if that has to be the best BB setlist - ever.

Almost best setlist...no Surf's Up, Long Promised Road, Feel Flows, Trader, Funky Pretty, Day In the Life of a Tree, River Song...

If they had to release just one concert on home video, I hope THIS is the one.

I mean playing 61 songs at such a well known venue as the Royal Albert Hall, that's just begging for a DVD release.  CAPITOL MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I'm now wondering if in this show they played every single song they officially ever played live in this tour.
I can't think of any song that was played before but not played at this show (beside a bit of Salt Lake City).
Wasn't there a thread keeping track of this?

I think that's the case...they completely emptied their arsenal for this show.  A great idea considering it was looking like the UK audiences were getting dissed by almost not getting to see any shows at all.  A great payoff for them.

Sorry to bump the bread but I'm still floored by what we experienced this night.

I've seen Mike sing in a virtual whisper (Glasgow) and one night when he and Bruce probably only managed half the leads between them.

And I've seen Brian on poor form (Hampton Court anyone?) and good form (the Manchester Gershwin show).

But at both these UK shows the principles were singing like the 80s 90s and 00s never happened.

Foskett's doubling act was never less essential.

Everyone sang incredibly well.

Ecstasy.

Interesting...

Love took over lead vocals for infectious versions of “California Girls” and “Surfin’ USA” – but the last word went to Wilson, walking out for an unannounced encore while Love gestured in the wings that it was too late, this shouldn’t be happening. Ignoring him, Wilson sang the best song he wrote for That’s Why God Made the Radio, the twinkling lament “Summer’s Gone”. Love slunk back on stage, bent on this occasion to his cousin’s will. “We’ll see you next time,” Wilson announced brightly at the end. Mark tonight up as a Brian victory.

I don't buy it.  Like I'm sure the band didn't rehearse the hell out of that song and have it planned and ready.  Not to mention there was a video ready to roll for the screen where the images matched what was being sung.  Nothing impromptu about it.

The whole story. The writer just seemed to want any excuse to put the boot into Mike it would seem.

The Beach Boys, Royal Albert Hall, London
By Ludovic Hunter-Tilney

The Beach Boys’ 50th anniversary reunion has taken an unhappy turn. Mike Love, legal owner of the band’s name, has dismayed his fellow founding members Brian Wilson and Al Jardine with plans to continue touring as the Beach Boys without them next year. With extraordinarily insensitive timing the pair learnt they were fired last week, before the reunion tour was even over.
Thursday’s near-four-hour show at London’s Royal Albert Hall was the penultimate date. It was a strange and fascinating occasion, far from the schmaltz-fest I had feared. Alongside the joyful hits about sun, surf and girls lay exposed the band’s counter-history of power struggles and mind games – with Love in his traditional role as villain and Wilson in his as troubled creative genius.
The reunion tour, which follows the new album That’s Why God Made the Radio, is the first Wilson has played with the Beach Boys since his mid-1960s breakdown. He sat on one side of the stage at an electric keyboard tricked out to look like a grand piano. Across from him were arranged Love, Jardine and two long-standing 1960s affiliates, guitarist David Marks and keyboardist Bruce Johnston. Absent, other than in photos and film projections, were the two missing Beach Boys, Wilson’s dead brothers Carl and Dennis.
The bulk of the music was played by Wilson’s touring band, a nine-piece adept at conjuring the cosmic symphonies of his heyday: fidelity to the original spirit of the Beach Boys extended to the drummer adopting the same unusual open stance as Dennis Wilson. Their vocal harmonies and vibrant musicianship gave the antique surf-pop maestros a magnificent backing.
They needed it. Wilson’s keyboards were inaudible and his voice, while fairly vigorous, was a shadow of its old self. He was animated when he sang lead vocals; inert when not. Meanwhile Love – head slowly sweeping the stalls as though calculating the potential merchandise take – provided a compulsive display of showbiz insincerity. Not a verse went by without a crocodile smile, an unctuous wave or a finger pointed at some special person in the audience. Meanwhile his vocals were low in the mix, as though by some surreptitious act of sabotage.
The odd atmosphere was heightened by Love’s jibes at the backing musicians, making fun of keyboardist Darian Sahanaja’s surname and bridling when Wilson suggested he introduce a musician before a song: “You’re going to call on me to introduce your buddy?” But after the interval a remarkable transfusion of energy took place.
They returned with a succession of songs from Wilson’s songwriting peak, when despite being warned by you-know-who not to “f*** with the formula” he turned the Beach Boys into psychedelic sophisticates. “Heroes and Villains” lit the touchpaper with its pell-mell harmonies while “I Just Wasn’t Made for This Time”, well sung by Wilson, ended with a standing ovation. The audience stayed on its feet for the next hour; Wilson was clearly buoyed by the reaction.

Not sure why but watching all the videos from this gig and the Wembley one....I get the weird feeling that Mike is sort of entering "Brian's land" by performing there in the UK.  I get a weird vibe between the audience and Mike.  This article sort of represents that unfair biased a lot of people seem to have towards Mike.

Brian's solo tours generated a lot of positive coverage over there.  It brought Brian new fans, I'm sure, in addition to long-time Beach Boys fans.  There's now a bias there tilting towards Brian. I'm not saying it's a totally bad thing and Brian and his band deserve credit for putting on good shows over there and getting that good coverage which resulted in the bias.  If Mike had made that press release while the American tour was winding down, I'm not sure it would have been as noticed.  I'm sure the American press wouldn't have conflated it into Mike sacking/firing Brian and Al.  That also goes back to the sensationalism of the entire British press.  Not to mention the fact they still have a press, which America no longer has as much of due to cutbacks in all areas of print and online journalism.

The"buddy" call was , to my perception, interpreted as a joke by all concerned on the night and nothing at all to do with any onstage sparring imagined by the press.

I knows nothink about the guy who wrote that review but there are phrases in the text that make me suspect someone trying to display his knowledge of the band without being quite aware of how incomplete his knowledge is: describing Dave Marks as an "affiliate" for example.

I don't like the review at all; there's a subtext to my eyes that's all about the reviewer and not the show. Just my tuppenyworth.

Because it would fall to Mike, not the band leader, tour manager, or venue host, to manage the clock.

Brian asking Mike to introduce a band member is a little odd as well, though.  Brian barely talks during the Beach Boys shows as far as I know, yet once he deigns to speak, he can't just say, "That's Jeff Foskett, ladies and gentlemen," or "That's Paul Mertens who just did that great sax solo," but instead pipes up and says, "Mike, would you tell the crowd who just did that (whatever)"?  What, is Brian six years old?

At the show I was at, after they played Cottonfields, Brian went out of his way to say, "That is the great Alan Jardine."  It was a really nice moment, Al seemed genuinely touched.

I agree. I have that same feeling. It looks and sounds like Brian feels/felt really at home and had a connection with the audience that the otehrs didn't. That is not to say they have no connection but not the same kind Brian got.

The article is awful. Just written to blame Mike, which has been the goal of every article written in the last weeks. Obviously the writers don't have any clue about anything.
And it wouldn't be the first time that a statement made by Mike at a show would be taken out of context just to support the feeling of the writer. I don't hav any respect for that

This is the kind of dick move that gets people annoyed at dear Michael. Brian Wilson had to literally BEG Mike to include Summer's Gone (and I confirmed that directly from a BW band member the other day, not just the online references about it) and still he wanted to cut it off at the knees. I bet if he wrote a freakin' hook for the chorus it'd be front and center, but nooo, can't let Brian have a tender, bittersweet little moment that we all ate up with a fork and spoon without power plays. Even on the final nights of the tour. God... and he was getting kudos for this behavior on here! Thanks ever so much, Mr. Love! Nothing quite as encouraging to a performer as your bandmate gesturing frantically that you shouldn't do your incredibly special song initially intended to be the last ever Beach Boys song on the last ever album at one of the last C50 stops.

But it happened and it was magic! I hope it concludes the upcoming release.

I mean, I guess I could see Mike's side very easily. Leave on a high note, have the audience go home thinkin' FUN, not all sad and mopey sad bear Briany. More importantly, leave with the sound of Mike Love in your ears! And in fact I can see his logic for shifting it earlier in the setlist for Wembley, which makes more sense for a stadium show. But for the RAH, it's indeed a great move by Brian and a killer ending to an epic night.

WANT. DVD.

Ok, back to the videos.

Ontor, any insight or backgound you can provide on these tiny digital cameras planted throughout the stage that are clearly visible on these videos?  This seems to be something they just added in these last few shows.  Can you tell us how effective those types of cameras for capturing the action on stage?  Are the results acceptable?  Can we still expect dynamic, exciing shots when the cameras are literally just sitting there ponted at each member?  I'm assuming they can add zoom in/outs in post or something?  If they indeed filmed these shows and the majority of the footage are from these cameras--it makes me wonder what kind of quality we can really expect from on a release?

Then again, maybe these are there simply to film the event for their own archives and not necessarily for a public release?

I was happy to see the saturation coverage! Not only do you have the camera crew acting a lot more interested than previous shows onstage and roving around like crazy grabbing band closeups (lots of interesting angles, too -- DarianCam should be fun!) -- the stationary fixed position cameras will be great for cutaways and whatnot.  You can get great quality on those that will cut in fine with everything else. I wonder what their total is? Is it going to be a timeline with ten layers of video? There definitely seems to be a helluvalot of audience filming going on. I'm never a fan of that in live videos, who gives a sh*t? I wanna see the band!

Will we just end up seeing three songs with vocals flown in from the studio? I'd kill for a nice rough cut of just the RAH show.

There was a fixed camera for every single musician on stage plus one mobile on stage and one mobile under the stage. At least! There might have been long-shot ones back in the stalls as well.
So it will be like a 20 layers project!  That's fun to edit!  If anyone in charge is reading I'm available to do it for free (but I will need access to the multi-track audio too ;) ).

EDIT: just noticed there were some small ones pointed to the audience as well

If anybody is reading, I am available to do it decidedly not for free, and I need a gigantic stack of hard drives and an IV drip of caffeine.

I hope they don't decide to go ADHD with the cutting since they have all those sources.

Except that it didn't happen!
61 songs songs were already announced by Mike and Scott T. early in set 1.
After Fun Fun Fun they all came back to stage and Mike announced that Brian was gonna sing one more song.
I certainly haven't noticed any waving or panic. I might even have all this on video.

That Mike would have preferred to end with Fun Fun Fun, that I can believe.

Thanks ontor and STE for the info on the stationary cameras.  I wonder how many other concert DVDs were filmed with these type of cameras.  I am quite curious what exactly they can do with that and what the results will bring.

I have absolutely no idea how/where they'll use this footage.  They've already filmed Phoenix and Red Rocks in the US.  We are still owed a TV (NBC?) concert program from the tour, I assume footage will come from one of those shows?  Will we see a DVD release of that program?  Who knows.  But then there is that one show in Australia they filmed also...beautiful cinematogaphy, as I recall.  And now these 2 UK shows also filmed..honestly they have a gaggle of stuff to work with here.   I'm excited and concerned at the same time with what they'll do with this.

Worst possible scenario:  they use 1 single live audio track, dubbed to the various footage edited together from all 4 concerts they have available ("Heroes and Villians" would have the audio from Chicago, the footage from Red Rocks, Phoenix, Royal Albert Hall and Wembley all weaved together to simulate one live performance).  I can see them spin it as a cool new revolutionary way to do concert DVDs. I cringe at the tought of it!  That would be the biggest F.U. they could give us.

I would guess the cost of putting small cameras around the stage is minimal nowadays plus the guys filming were there anyway. It would be cool if the powers that be planned to film several whole gigs then release the best, be it Red Rocks,  Royal Albert or wherever. Would be a shame not to have one concert of the 70 plus where the stars all lined up with regard to the setlist, vocals, audience etc.

I've posted videos of the RAH concert in London on youtube (in 21 parts some currently in download progress) which was truly a magical night. My question is, what do you you recommend as far as combining some of the videos? IE part 8 and 9 of the girl with the cleft palate into one video (SMiLE). I kind of just threw all of them up there (the good, the bad and the ugly re my video skills), and am currently convalescing in bed with back and neck spasms. So, I haven't been able to categorize them yet into specific songs, etc. Thanks! Ken

Nice job with the videos. Sure getting big thumbs up from this site.

You know, I was wondering how hard it must have been to film for 3 hours so close to the stage. Trying to watch the gig but also film a nice quality picture. Are your back and neck issues related to that? :lol

Re the videos. How about leaving them as they are but just listing the songs in each clip? (if that has been done since I watched some of them then just ignore)

Thanks! Actually, my back and neck didn't start spasming till the next day...more of a function of a chronic neck problem from sitting at a computer than the show itself  :) Total filming time I think was less than an hour since my camera died shortly after the intermission (interval), bad for posting but good for my neck and back  :)

What really surprised me about the show other than Brian's enthusiasm and obvious love of the BB (he first grabbed Mike Love's hand for the bow after the first Encore) and lack of auto-tune use in the first half, was the incredible performance by Bruce Johnston with "Disney Girls" (currently at the end of the 10min video clip), so I think I will separate that one out and try to load that one, and even perhaps label the others tomorrow depending how I feel.
Glad the critics reviewing the show saw the same one we did! It truly was a magical night...

That'd be nuts and unfeasible seeing as they were probably all wearing different clothes, one's an outdoor ampitheatre and the rest are massive concert halls of differing ambience/look (especially the contrast between the Albert Hall/Wembley alone!).

my 0.02$ -  Just show The Albert Hall. It's a perfect theatre. Anything filmed there, unless the cameras were helmed by the criminally insane (and we know Bruce was onstage so the risks are considerably down), would look incredible. Ever watched The Last Night Of the Proms?

Plus, they did every song they performed on the tour, so it's a compilers dream.

Another video of Add Some Music, but it sounds like a different remix (from soundboard?) The keyboard organ is loud in the mix.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scUu_Hqjfjo&t=26s

from this point you hear: louder backing vocals (oh--) / louder guitar chords / beautiful louder percussion (drums?)

Thanks. One thing I missed on "Add some music" was after Al's "for your lonely soul" when Mike brings this cool bassline on the recording. Something like "ba-ba-ba-dididit". I always sing that line when I see videos of the reunion tour

That'd be nuts and unfeasible seeing as they were probably all wearing different clothes, one's an outdoor ampitheatre and the rest are massive concert halls of differing ambience/look (especially the contrast between the Albert Hall/Wembley alone!).

Haha I wouldn't put it past the BB to not care!  I was exaggerating suggesting that but a small part of me wanted to say it so I wouldn't be surprised later if they in fact did it that way.  It just sounds like something they'd do.   :lol

But like you, yeah I'd love the RAH gig.  I've been harping about that being the DVD relese since they announced the gig!  But I can't help but wonder what exactly they'll do with the other shows they've spent money on filming as well?  I guess we'll see.

I'm guessing it'd be the only performance of  Little Girl, no with B-Pain, it was only performed on the first few shows until RAH, hope somebody recorded it!

Here's my vid, although Brian is really out of focus, due to my camera's auto-focus with the lighting conditions (I can make an excuse for anything). Sorry.

Don't apologise, you're a legend!!! That video is amazing. I can't believe they dropped this so early in the tour. Such a wonderful song. Maybe not condusive for American audience wit that stop/go format.

Brian's lead is so powerful, and I don't even hear anyone doubling him. Not trying to put Jeff out of a job, but.... :lol

He looks so happy, too. Singing directly to the audience, smiling, dancing.....

Ahhh, and the 'your buddy' crack mentioned in the negative review last week. Taken completely out of context as we all suspected.

Does it again at 1:43 in the clip, seems like Brian to me. In Forever at RAH, he also try to go for the Falsetto part, but not as wholeheartedly as at Wembley!

Regarding the filming of this show, everyone is dressed/groomed like its a professional shoot. Brian is, I think wearing slacks and not the usual trackie pants, albeit with sneakers. His hair is done like he's at a shoot. The shows I saw in Sydney and Melbourne he had the wet slicked back look which makes him look older.John's sporting a shirt and blazer, Darian and I think Paul are rocking a suit. Not to mention Mike's gold jacket. Small observations I know. Just seems that everyone on the night looks snazzy or is it just a reflection of the prestige of the venue ?

I  haven't posted here before, but always like reading this message board  :)
Thanks! Ken
(youtube screen name is tusrdu)

Thanks for uploading more videos--they are excellent!

Hate to be persistent, but have they played this on the tour before this show? I'm just curious to see a video of a 50th anniversary performance of this song.

Damn that Mike for teasing Brian by putting it in the setlist and then swaying him not to do it later!!

sayhey (tusrdu on YouTube) has combined all of his RAH videos into one...

Sixty-nine uninterrupted minutes, and I didn't see a single audience shot.  ;D

Thanks, sayhey. Hope you were able to enjoy some of the show.
