Is this and the Hong Kong show going to be the only show not attended by a Smiley Smile member? I thought about it but opted for a couple of Australian shows instead. Looks like a fabulous venue too.

I can't find one single picture of the Japanese shows or this one. Ok, it's quite early for the Singapore show but still weird about Japan.

Anyway I could find this:

Same here. Bruce's picture looks like it was taken at the house and the grand piano at which Brian is sitting. Same shooting where they also ate and Al feeded Brian. The others I don't know

I think they're all from that same shoot. Brian, Al, and Dave are wearing the same shirts as in some of the previously released press photos.

Brian's vocals on "Sail On, Sailor," just keep getting stronger with each show. Am I the only one who joins in on the "choreography" while watching the vids? The band's a bad influence. ;D

How about Brian at the end of the second verse on "Add Some Music".... "to your DAY"?  What a great ascending vocal I've haven't heard on this song before. Just terrific!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2HO6aT120I&feature=plcp       at about 1:05. He looks lost at the start, and then this comes from out of nowhere.

Yeah it's a nice one.  I haven't watched one clip of "Add Some" from this tour where Brian does NOT keep his eyes glued on Al when Al is up to sing the bridge "Muusiiiiiic, when you're alone....."  He keeps his eye on him, hoping he hits those notes...every single time.

I see some insense burning at the end of Brian's keyboard....never saw that before.

I get the feeling that Brian performs better when he can hear himself and the music better.  The sound in this venue sounds really great...I'd bet the sound on stage is equally great.

This + accounts from band members that say Brian can really dazzle vocally when he feels like turning it on = such a tease. I feel like it's a rare peak into his vocalist intuition. Usually it just sounds like he's just thinking about saying the right words in the right key.

Awesome! I love hearing him tear it up like this. Do you think this kind of singing has been discouraged by vocal coaches? You can hear him slipping into that 80s/90s nasal quality at points.

I really wonder about the Sail on Sailor choreography.  Is Brian laughing at the song or is this his honest-to-goodness shot at a good performance? Is the band laughing with him or at him (not in a vicious way, but in a "oh that goofy guy" kind of way).

The setlist is up on Setlistsfm--looks like they got a nice long set in--49 songs.  No "Forever," tho.  Wonder why the video screen makes it to some countries and not others?

I don't know, but one possibillity is that the movements help to sing the notes... in better pitch. Jeff supports Brian vocally, and now and then others join in.

I am watching these videos  :hat and they are so fantastic. They aren't Brian's best vocals on the tour, but I think the reason we think they're amazing because Brian isn't "rote" - it seems like he's actually aware and TRYING to do a great vocal and do a little something different with his lead voice. These days, you kinda know what you're getting fron Brian in concert, but these were fresh and exciting takes on the songs they've been doing for three straight months If my head wasn't so cloudy I could do an in depth analysis of each video just based on watching and listening to Brian in those clips.

"I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" - he actually looks like he's crying (I know that's just his facial expression due to meds or something), but I feel the emotion and the yearning in that song coming out of him,  watching Brian in the clip, the same emotion that was there in '66 but was absent for a long time......And he really goes for the "when my fairweather friends cop out" falsetto - he blends in unison with Jeff! The second time, it must have taken a lot out of him because he dropped real low for the "what's it all about?." section. And then he sings the next line as "sometimes I feel velly sad", doing an accent and you see a glimpse of a SMiLE on his face. So fantastic.

I don't exactly hear Brian doing "velly" but rather "verrrrry" with a rolling r.  Still funny though.

When I heard that rrrolling 'R' (a little too much) I thought he might just have done some exercises with a vocal coach, in between the busy schedule. Anyway, Brian looks good and sings good.

Quick question: At about the 3:30 mark on the IJWMFTT, does Mike sing "I guess he just wasn't made for these times"? I've listened a couple times and it seems like it but not entirely sure. Nice touch if he does...

I noticed this too.

I thought he was saying "very" in a stereotypical way to poke fun of the Asians. "Sometimes I feel varry sad". He probably wasn't doing that, but if he was that's pretty damn funny (if politically incorrect).

The ways he sobs "sometimes I feel very sad" is similar to his mock emotion in "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" film when he cries out "My house is gone!".

Brian seemed to be annoyed by something during "Add Some Music". Maybe someone with a flash camera.

He's definitely having some fun up there. Good for him.

Had Mike attempted something like that, we would be backslashing the guy.
Had Bruce attempted something like that, we would have a new hate thread.

I dig that Brian did it, though. And, I say it again, TWW is some of te best live vocals from him I've heard. This tour so far has been his best with the BBs since -- what? 1965?

"Sitting on top..." = "Catch a wave" (...and you're sitting on top of the world)

Don't know what "Isn't she lovely" should be. It's certainly not the Stevie Wonder song and since they are talking about new songs in the next part of the sentence it also might not be "Isn't it time".

Worst review I've ever read. A show that includes both singing off-key and lip-synching should be deemed as terrible. Yet he ends up saying it was great. What a mess!

I really wonder about the Sail on Sailor choreography.  Is Brian laughing at the song or is this his honest-to-goodness shot at a good performance? Is the band laughing with him or at him (not in a vicious way, but in a "oh that goofy guy" kind of way).

Anything Brian Wilson does is endearing to those around him.

I doubt he was, although I concur that it's possible.  If he really was, though, he picked the wrong country:  Singapore is technically an English-speaking country, although it's multilingual and their variety of English can be quite different from American or British.  The most common native language these days there is probably Mandarin Chinese, which unlike Japanese and Korean distinguishes between "l" and "r," although their R sounds are quite different from those in English (but sound nothing like "l").

I don't know, but one possibillity is that the movements help to sing the notes... in better pitch. Jeff supports Brian vocally, and now and then others join in.

I could see the movements helping him hit the notes.  But as for vocal support, when he was doing that at the Nagoya show, there didn't seem to be anyone supporting him vocally on SOS--in fact, Jeff was watching him and making the movements back at him, so his back was turned to the mic.

So why was no video wall in Singapore ? I'm confused ?
Anyway, very nice version of GOK by Brian. Thanks for the links !

From Mike's Australian interview, I gathered that the video wall is only being used when the venue has the equipment. They didn't bring it with them, but if the venue has one, they use it.

Can you direct me to this Australian interview? I have not come across mention of it until now.

This is probably the first known live recording of the actual single version of "Isn't It Time":

http://youtu.be/r_XGVJmXEWM (http://youtu.be/r_XGVJmXEWM)

Note the different (Al's) and the different bridge.
Also note that is different both from the album version AND the live version they use to play towards the end of the US tour.

It's a stronger arrangement than the album's. Really wish it hits big.

Oops, nevermind.

What does John Cowsill's shirt say? Looks like a take off of the Pet Sounds font.

I'm not feeling the new lyrics. Even more generic than before! And...say what you will, but I miss Jeff on the bridge.

Wow this version of "God Only Knows" is impeccable.  Strong vocals by Brian...and he sticks every high note.  The "what good would living do meeeeeee" is dead on.
