I like what I hear!
Would fit any new BB album nicely.
And it feels good to hear a mew high-ptiched rocking vocal from Al.

Gosh I wanna hear the new BB material so hard now.

Too bad Blondie's not in it.

And that autotune, I can't stand it.

Interesting.

Sounds pretty fully produced to me, which makes me wonder if it will be on the BB album after all ...

Sounds a little like some of Status Quo's more recent stuff. Which isn't actually a criticism.

If their new stuff sounded anything like this it would be beyond my wildest expectations.

Not great, but it's better than anything on Summer in Paradise.

A curious blend… the finished product will be interesting for sure…  the backing vocals do sound odd but let's out that down to a low res MP3 file playing through 'puter speakers for now.

Hmm. Very small sample size, obviously. The backing vocals remind me of late 70's Beach Boys style. Still interested to hear the Carl vocal

Sounds promising. Probably not mind-blowing, but nice. I knew nothing before other than the title, so I was somehow expecting something slower and easy listening-ish. This sounds upbeat. Nice Al lead and nice group vocals, even through the mud of that low bitrate stream.

Within the context of the new album...I'm sure it'll fit nicely.  Sounds okay to me.  I could've done without the "love vibrations" lyric.

Nice album track. Wil be interesting what a Brian production will make this song like and how Carl sounds on it

Sounds good!  It makes me want to hear more.  I really like Al's vocals - and I hope he gets a bunch of leads on the new BB album.  I'm so looking forward to hearing them sing together again.

Yes, Al's vocals have that real Wild Honey sound. How can we be sure that this track is really under consideration for the reunion album? Didn't Al mention it in an oblique manner which could have just been referring to Postcard?

What's there I like better than "Don't Fight The Sea"...even if it does sound like a rewrite of "Bye, Bye Love".

I heard the snippet once when this thread was originally created.  Since then Amazon won't play the sample and says "Unavailable" every time I try to play it.

Clear your cache and cookies or something because it still works for me!!!

I like!!.

Can't wait to hear the full track in decent bit rate.

[EDIT] I do hear Bye Bye Love, however it's mixed with a little bit of "Never Let Her Slip Away" by Andrew Gold, both are songs I like a lot, so I'm not going to complain :)

Kind of has a "Weezer" vibe to it, anybody else hear that?

The CD of Al's "Postcard from California" arrived a few minutes ago.
The liner notes for "Waves Of Love":
WAVES OF LOVE (Jardine/Dvoskin) Al Jardine Music/Miracle Music
Recorded live backstage at Merv Griffin's Resorts in Atlantic City
Vocals: Al jardine, Matt Jardine, Carl Wilson
Guitars: Dan Knutson & Al
Bass: Ed Carter
B-3 Organ: Michael Meros
Synth Keys: Larry Dvoskin
Drums: Mike Kowalski

Who played the prominent saxophone isn't mentioned at all. Anyone knows?

The song is a nice addition and I like it more than the poor re-recordings of "Help Me Rhonda", "Honkin' Down The Highway", "California Dreamin'" and the lousy "San Simeon" or "Drivin'".
DitDit...DitDitDitDeDeDit....Uhhhhhhhhhhh  :drumroll

So how is Carl's part?

Well, since I don't wanna get anyone into trouble please accept that I simply had it in the mail today. But I'm sure I'm not the only one on this planet earth  ;)

Carl sings on the chorus only along with Al, but in general his voice is buried too deep in the mix (which is ...well, mediocre at best).  Don't think I've heard Carl on the harmonies, but sometimes It's difficult to distinguish Matt and Carl's vocals.
Anyway the song is growing on me - and I have no doubt that with a better arrangement, mix and some more tweaking it would make perfect sense on the upcoming Beach Boys album.

I like 'Drivin' a lot.  Brian sounds great.

Hrm. Hopefully Carl's vocal will take the front seat in the mix of the Beach Boys version.

I doubt that's possible, given the non-studio source material.

It's in the credits listed above.

"Recorded live backstage at Merv Griffin's Resorts in Atlantic City."

Suggests there may well not be discrete vocal tracks.

Hrm, pretty clean recording if it was just run through a soundboard and put live to tape or something. I doubt that's the case, but I could be wrong.

Well, Al seems to have added stuff to it last year, according to Matt's FB. Who knows how much of the original is in there.

I rather like it myself. Al is a peculiar sort ... good taste as a singer, musician and producer,  but not a lot of talent as a songwriter.

Sounds like Al is stretching his voice here. From that 30 second clip, this sounds like a song that might be better suited for Brian's voice than Al's. There's a sweetness that is needed for the song that Al's vocal lacks.

it's so much like rhinestone cowboy, i have trouble giving it credit.  his version of "california feelin" sounds like it makes the cd worth a buy though.

Not just that. It also borrows from Sloop John B, Hotel California and a few others…
