Title: New Kate Bush Album
Post by: Mike's Beard on September 19, 2011, 10:08:52 AM
I've recently heard that she finally has a new album of new material coming out in November. If I'm not busted from the Smile Boxset and the Floyd reissues I'm going to buy it. I just pray she goes for a less 'modern' production style this time (something which has plagued her last few records).

I've just finished listening to it for the first time - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Long & complex songs (the shortest one clocks in at 6:48), sparse arrangements (mostly piano, strings & vox), will take a little while to really get into it I suppose, but it was well worth the wait.

Somewhat put off by her son's vocal on the first song: cute idea, but he's just not a good enough singer.

This is as good a place to ask as any...

As someone who has only heard a few of the singles (and generally been blown away by them) I'm on the lookout for just one Kate Bush album for my collection. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks, ORR. I shall check it out on Grooveshark...

You are welcome!

Running up that Hill is a classic from the album. The music videos from Hounds were groundbreaking.

Not to be contrary, but I prefer The Kick Inside and The Dreaming. Not that Hounds of Love isn't great.
(I too have Kate Bush tickets)

Thank you, obdmc. I've added them to my listening list. Congratulations on getting tickets, Pim as well. :=)

Here is a great little overview John. I am no Kate superfan but Hounds was the album that shaped my soundtrack in 85.

That is very handy! I've given an initial listen to all the albums up to Hounds----what an astonishing journey----but I'm not up to choosing individual tracks yet (for posting on my other forum).  So this list is a godsend. Thank you!

I've stalled during Aerial---it just doesn't grab me. Which leaves me with seven highly individual albums to choose from. A most pleasant prospect. I think if i were to choose only two, it would be The Kick Inside and Hounds of Love. Possibly. Hell, I may end up buying all seven!

Revisited Aerial this week and I must admit it's grown on me.

"Kate Bush concert is now the benchmark" was the heading of my Dutch daily's review of Kate's opening concert. Looks like whoever's going from here is in for a treat...

It would be cool if she wore the leotard again.

She's 56 now & not exactly fit. It would look ridiculous on her.

Bums me out that she's not playing on my continent. I hope they make a good DVD out of the concerts.

No word of that yet, but I'll be very surprised if they don't. Yes, it's a Hammersmith, London-only project. I should imagine it's too costly (and complicated) to tour the stage set.
