Title: Remember... Post by: Andrew G. Doe on January 31, 2011, 03:41:32 AM ... the story of Dennis hiring an orchestra to serenade Christine on her birthday ?
This you will not believe... http://www.youtube.com/user/carlimunoz#p/u/5/5iMiOJZyOnM (http://www.youtube.com/user/carlimunoz#p/u/5/5iMiOJZyOnM) Title: Re: Remember... Post by: The Shift on January 31, 2011, 03:59:11 AM Seems some BBs associates have been trawling through their own archives in recent months.
Could this all be a result of BRI or Capitol conducting a major trawl for a wonderful 50th anniversary package? We've had the Olympia footage, the BBs in Paris, now this from Carli Munoz*... Just suppose these are the rejected clips?!?! I'm guessing Ed Roach might be able to confirm or deny whether such a trawl has taken place? I'm hoping the actual serenading by Dennis was also filmed! You can hear a voice that I'm sure is DW calling "slower" and singing along at one point. Carli deserves a medal – nae, a knighthood – for sharing this. It's one of the highlights of recent years as a BBs fan! Title: Re: Remember... Post by: buddhahat on January 31, 2011, 05:55:43 AM You can hear a voice that I'm sure is DW calling "slower" and singing along at one point. Yeah thanks for these links AGD. Is that Dennis saying "That's enough" at the end then? Title: Re: Remember... Post by: Andrew G. Is that Dennis saying "That's enough" at the end then? Yes, and "slower" too... and if you crank the volume way up, you can just hear DW singing along in the middle. Now, there's a thought - what if he's got footage of the actual performance ? ;D Title: Re: Remember... Post by: D409 on January 31, 2011, 06:33:39 AM That's incredible ! Hope there is footage of the actual performance, but didn't Christine get sent the bill for this ? (in error of course !)

Post by: The Shift on January 31, 2011, 07:26:24 AM Incidentally, I've found the sound quality on this piece to be superb. If the performance was indeed filmed, we'd have a darn-near studio quality recording of Dennis performing one of his finest compositions.
Oooh, the excitement! Title: Re: Remember... Post by: Steve Mayo on January 31, 2011, 07:51:14 AM thanks for the links andrew.....nice additions to the rebuilding of a collection... :)

Post by: Rocker on January 31, 2011, 11:05:31 AM Very beautiful. This was probably one of the last times, Dennis ha something like a project where he could bring in his creativity, right ?

Excellent question, but keep in mind Carli uploaded this clip over a year ago, as opposed to the Olympia & Paris footage which just seemed to pop up last month. Title: Re: Remember... Post by: The Shift on January 31, 2011, 01:46:31 PM Agree. But I doubt that the search would have started this year...
and if it hasn't started yet, then material like this might imply that someone's missing the boat! :lol Add: Also note how relatively active Mike, Brian and Al (or their representatives on Earth) are on Facebook at the mo'. They don't really need to be ... Title: Re: Remember... Post by: buddhahat on January 31, 2011, 02:31:04 PM the Olympia & Paris footage which just seemed to pop up last month. Post by: Loaf on February 01, 2011, 01:45:57 AM I'm going to wake up in a minute and start a thread on here about how I had a great dream that a 5-CD & 5-DVD box set was being prepared of entirely unreleased tracks, gigs, mixes and videos.

I actually had that dream... and it included the finished version of SMilE! with the never before heard song, Ebb and Flow.... Title: Re: Remember... Post by: The Shift on February 01, 2011, 02:12:58 AM What keeps playing with my mind is that we've been lusting for various live sets, SMiLE sessions and other stuff like WINBNTLA, stuff we knew was in the vaults that we'd like to hear.
But what if someone was to play a blinder here and come up with a box of phenomenal stuff we had no idea was out there? Imagine a package of stuff of the unimagined richness of the video that Carli put up on YouTube, and perhaps even better? Say, a pro-shot vid of the entire BBs gig on Hawaii in '67? In-depth footage of Brian in the studio recording Good Vibes? Of Dennis Wilson showing Billy Preston a few chords and contributing the lyrics to You Are So Beautiful? Audio of Van Dyke Parks being asked to explain "over and over..." Clips of Brian spilling a drink over a girl in the audience back in the early 60s, then asking her out... I just like it when something happens that makes you feel anything could be possible! Title: Re: Remember... Post by: shelter on February 01, 2011, 07:50:12 AM So unreleased Beach Boys songs that had been on YouTube for ages have been taken down, unreleased songs turn up with a better sound quality than on any bootleg, and BB associates are en masse going through their archives. And this all is happening almost simultaneously. Interesting.
Title: Re: Remember... Post by: The Heartical Don on February 01, 2011, 08:00:32 AM We'll get a 2CD Greatest Hits compilation, with a curiosity for diehards: a new Beach Boys Medley. That's it, folks.

Or we might be putting two and two together to get five. And if it's not being done, then someone Capitol-way ought to say "what a bloody good idea" and do it! Title: Re: Remember...
