Title: The *MP3 Player* thread Post by: Mahalo on January 10, 2011, 10:45:30 AM A place to talk about your favorite MP3 player...
Mine happens to be the Cowon i9 with Sennheiser Headphones. It is not as solid as an ipod, nor does it have the same memory capacity, but in terms of sound it is perfect for the audiophile. It has 39 Jet effect Pre-set sounds, but even better it has 4 different user adjusted settings. Each of these has a 5 band EQ that allows one to adjust how wide or narrow each of these EQ's comes thorugh as, Hz adjustments, and level adjustments (sorry, I'm not the best at describing these specs), 3d Surround enhancer, stereo enhancer, MP enhancer to restore and enhance harmonics lost through compression (whatever that means), reverb adjuster, left/right adjuster in case one ear is a bit deafer than the other, pitch correction, speed adjuster (up to 150%, down to 50%)...and more check out their web site here... http://www.cowonglobal.com/product_wide/iAUDIO9/product_page_4.php I put on Friends with the 3D effect way up and I heard instruments that were buried in the mix... way cool!! It's not for all songs, in fact I rarely use it, but the flexibility of sound is super-great. It's not the best for images, or movies...but for sound, you gotta get one... Well, some of us like good audio on the go....even if it is in compressed form. Thanks for starting this thread noname. My ipod is on its way out and I'm looking for a good alternative that has great sound. $150 is quite a lot of money for only 16gb these days - but it sure does seem to have A LOT of audio options. I'll keep my eyes open for a price reduction. Title: Re: The *MP3 Player* thread Post by: Mahalo on January 14, 2011, 04:45:21 AM The words "audiophile" and "MP3" DO NOT mix. Well, I'll take your word for it. The Cowon does support FLAC files though. As rab2591 said, it's good audio on the go. I can't really develop a vinyl collection at the moment, but FWIW, I am well satisfied with this small piece of machinery... ;D |
