Title: "Don't Run Away" by Bruce & Terry Post by: CenturyDeprived on January 06, 2011, 11:33:14 AM I just have to give props to this great song which I found on The Best of Bruce & Terry CD. Such a standout track, I'd put it up there with some of the better Beach Boys songs of its era.

I really enjoy so much of that early Bruce Johnston stuff, Bruce & Terry in particular. "Carmen" is lovely, with a surprisingly strong (for its time and genre) anti-racism message, as well as the cover of "Four Strong Winds," both versions of "Beach Girl..." All that stuff. Very accomplished and sophisticated. It gets schamltzy on more than one occasion, but not as much as you would expect given Bruce's leanings... And then you get some truly demented surf pastiches in the earlier stuff....the ludicrous "surfers going skiing" ode "Here We Go" (Sonny Bono should have listened closer to this one), "Yeah!", the intentionally creepy "I Love You Model T," "The Hamptons", the sublimely ridiculous "In My '40 Ford" (Burt Bacharach at the drag strip, sounding like he'd win the race if he wasn't too busy drinking a martini and TALKING about winning)...you can't say Bruce didn't have a sense of humor. A simple drawing of a pair of almost stick legs( no Photo). Cory sent me a copy once, but I lost it. NO, I found it! and posted it in media; Not as nice as the drawing Murry did of a young Dennis for the Sidewalk Surfin sheet music... Sidewalk Surfin is posted also. I can think of two other songs on which they are both credited: How She Boogalooed It and Somewhere Near Japan. Any others?
