Title: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: donald on December 04, 2010, 05:29:10 PM I've been working on this year's xmas cd comp and I'm trying to get the perfect eclectic mix on one CD using my current collection. I'm having a hard time deleting several BB songs (and Spector group songs) to make room for a lot of other great holiday songs.
So, which two BB xmas songs should I keep? And while we're at it, which two Christmas Gift for You songs? BBs: The Man With All The Toys and Child Of Winter Darlene Love, Marshmallow World Ronettes, I Saw mommy Kissing Santa Claus Title: Re: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: Myk Luhv on December 04, 2010, 09:59:29 PM I've always liked "Christmas Day" by the BBs. It's an underrated song that captures my sentimental side this time of the year if nothing else...

Little Saint Nick What I Really Want For Christmas Morning Christmas Winter Symphony Title: Re: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: hypehat on December 05, 2010, 04:26:56 AM The BB's 'White Christmas', for that PERFECT, PERFECT ending. I just love that note he holds, for some reason.
From the Spector, you've got to have 'Baby Please Come Home', if nothing else. Or 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town', owner of my favourite drum fill committed to tape (After the first chorus, in case you were interested). I know there are plenty of Spector sessions booted (i used to have them, but inexplicably deleted them), but does the instrumental track to 'Silent Night' exist? If so, I would be pretty happy to find out about them? Thanks.... ;D Title: Re: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: donald on December 05, 2010, 09:13:18 AM Little St. Nick ..single version and Baby Please Come Home are definites

The Man With All The Toys Title: Re: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: donald on December 08, 2010, 02:41:53 PM I'd say keep Spector and The Beach Boys as separate entities and just make a compilation of everything else that's good. I've done both. I can't limit a xmas comp to one Darlene love song. Hmmmmmm, maybe 2 of Darlene, and 2 of the Ronnettes. 2 of the Beach boys, 2 of BW xmas........that might work. But then there are dozens of others to sort out. The idea is to make one 90 minute disc. I could just keep playing those random mix comp playlists over and over........... Title: Re: Essential Beachboys Christmas songs Post by: bgas on December 08, 2010, 03:43:12 PM Ya think we'll still get a new BW christmas song this year?
We sure deserve one! I was just listening to the new Paul Simon Xmas song on his site, downloadable for free at paulsimon.com At least it's new to me.... Pretty much sums up the consumerism of the holidays. Be warned. Be very warned that if you find this song, it's lyrics are illicit. |
