Title: Weezer’s new releases
Post by: Ptolemaios on November 20, 2010, 03:54:32 AM
Raditude, Hurley, Pinkerton Deluxe, Death to false metal, (the upcoming) Alone III… lots of releases and happenings in the Weezer camp during the last two years.

How do you feel about them?

Looking forward to Alone 3 and Pinkerton reissue...maybe the rest of SFTBH will be out on these 2 records. The new stuff  :-\

I've given up on Weezer after I saw the cover to Raditude and made the mistake of hearing it's contents. Naming an album 'Hurley' also didn't fill me with confidence, so didn't pick that up, and an album full of stuff they didn't put on the last few pretty much scares me...

I love Weezer to death, they're my second favourite band behind The Beach Boys. Granted, Raditude wasn't great but has it's moments and Hurley is surprisingly strong and IMO the best and most consistent release since Pinkerton, plus it has a great song on it called Smart Girls! Death To False Metal is growing on me and the first song on the album, Turning Up The Radio is brilliant. I got Pinkerton deluxe last week, nice to have all the b-sides and rarities together. Talking of b-sides Weezer have some brilliant songs that were 'only' b-sides, namely Jamie, You Gave Your Love To Me Softly and the quite wonderful Susanne.

If you want to read more about Weezer, check out the following site, it's awesome and I wish there was a Beach Boys wiki in the same vein (called Wilsonpedia perhaps?)

I think they lost it after Pinkerton...Island In The Sun was the only song on the Green album that did anything for me.

True fact:  the first thing Rivers did after Weezer got their advance from Geffen was buy the GOOD VIBRATIONS box set.
