Title: 'Till I Die as The Elements downscaled into one song? Post by: rasmus skotte on November 03, 2010, 07:13:13 AM This song was dismissed by the other bandmembers for being a downer - when in fact it's quite the opposite! To quote Wirestone from this forum:
"Each verse is one of the four elements, with the exception of fire". 1) Water: To be like a cork on the ocean is a good thing in the long run. It has kept Brian afloat for many decades. Maybe this cork is attached to a bottle with a message inside? 2) Earth: Brian feels like a rolling stone which - as the saying goes - 'gathers no moss'... 3) Air: Brian has the unique ability to let himself go (like the leaf) and "be blown away"! and then to share it creatively with the rest of the world. 4) Fire: Entering into the coda comes the question of how long it will last? 'These things he'll be' (like we'll all be - more or less creatively) as long as those inner flame(s) will keep on burning... Title: Re: 'Till I Die as The Elements downscaled into one song? Post by: Slow In Brain on November 03, 2010, 06:08:28 PM Nice idea.
The feeling I get from the music is the sound of the ocean at night. Title: Re: 'Till I Die as The Elements downscaled into one song? Post by: rab2591 on November 04, 2010, 08:06:31 AM Very interesting...However, nothing will change my mind that it is a downer song:
"I've lost my way" "It kills my soul" "These things I'll be until I die" It is a downer song, but a great one at that! Related to the subject: 'A Day In The Life Of A Tree' has many of the elements in it as well: (Wind, Earth (branches to the 'ground'), Water (rain), though no 'fire' element unless you count the 'burning' the tree feels when the wind passes through its bark. Didn't Brian get the idea or inspiration tot hat song, when he was at the beach at night? I remember something like that being mentioned in an interview Title: Re: 'Till I Die as The Elements downscaled into one song? Post by: rab2591 on November 04, 2010, 09:24:36 AM Nice idea. I remember something like that being mentioned in an interview Yeah, I forget what interview, but he said he was standing on the shore looking out at the waves and, if memory serves me correctly, thought of the line 'I feel like a cork on the ocean' Anyone know what interview that is from? D'ya think the reason that there's no fire verse is because of Brian's fears toward the fire section and it's eventual abandonment? Just throwing ideas out.
