Title: Lightspeed Champion Recruits Van Dyke Parks for EP, Beach Boys Cover Post by: PongHit on October 21, 2010, 06:08:49 AM http://www.twentyfourbit.com/post/1361384337/lightspeed-champion-recruits-van-dyke-parks-for-ep
Not only has Lightspeed Champion taken on a Beach Boys classic (“‘Til I Die”) for his forthcoming EP, Bye Bye, but the British singer-songwriter also enlisted a legendary Brian Wilson collaborator himself, Van Dyke Parks, for help on the cover and 3 more new recordings. “It was pretty surreal,” said Dev Hynes in an announcement. “[Parks is] someone I’ve listened to for what seems like forever. I found myself listening to the stems and works in progress as a fan of him, then I’d remember that it’s something we’re working on together… then I’d freak out… Then I’d have a drink and I’d feel fine.” In addition to the cover, the pair recorded a new version of Life If Sweet! Nice To Meet You cut “There’s Nothing Underwater,” renamed “Underwater There is Nothing,” and two new songs, the near-title track “Bye Bye Icarus” and closer “The Mess You’re In.” Lightspeed Champion’s Bye Bye EP arrives digitally and on 10-inch vinyl December 13. The last Lightspeed album was very good and Dev seems to have a knack of doing covers different from the originals so I have high hopes for this. Just off to order the 10" Title: Re: Lightspeed Champion Recruits Van Dyke Parks for EP, Beach Boys Cover Post by: Myk Luhv on October 21, 2010, 10:29:40 AM Who or what the hell is Lightspeed Champion and beyond the fact that this person/group is recording a Beach Boys cover why should I care?

Title: Re: Lightspeed Champion Recruits Van Dyke Parks for EP, Beach Boys Cover Post by: Runaways on October 21, 2010, 08:13:43 PM i've been meaning to get a lightspeed champion cd. Mainly cause the two songs i have are totally fantastic. not surprised he likes the boys. he harmonizes a bit. i wouldn't cast him off too quick. he's got some talent, and although his name is building pretty quick, he's due for a break out i hope.
Midnight Surprise - this song is ten minutes. BUT, start it at 5. Lovers of a good melody and a bit of harmonizing will love it. srsly, start the song at 5 minutes. GIve a listen. it's great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rMwc10uNOg Galaxy of the lost - yeah video is weird. just let it play in background. listen to the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaHJJgoR0-s&ob=av3e Title: Re: Lightspeed Champion Recruits Van Dyke Parks for EP, Beach Boys Cover Post by: willy on October 22, 2010, 04:59:14 AM Midnight Surprise - this song is ten minutes.
