Title: BWRG Is A Grower
Post by: The Heartical Don on October 19, 2010, 01:20:51 AM
I liked it from the word 'go'. But with the passing of time, I find that I have it in the player for long periods at a stretch. Late at night, it is so nice. It helps me to calm down when I am worrying a bit. A nice companion just before falling asleep to. I still notice small touches that are new to me at this point in time. I even like the way he seems to be 'searching' for the right pitch in 'I Likes You Porgy'. 'I Got Plenty O'Nuthin'' produces that tiny jump within me, because it hints at WIBN and 'Holidays'.

A beautiful achievement, a small jewel (it shouldn't have been longer!), and a love letter to his fans.

Having already stated that, overall, it's not to my taste, I can't get They Can't Take That Away From Me out of my head. Other songs keep rearing up from my subconscious too.

If ya'll keep raving this way, I'm going to have to break down and get this to listen to!

Still can't get into most of it. A few songs are nice, and the performances are certainly really nice, but eh.

I'd rather see him doing originals, especially given that he's not gonna be around forever.

He'll make it to 100.

See, nothing about Brian Douglas Wilson is ordinary.

I'd love that, but man - mental illness (that's an understatement, given what he's gone through), past drug/alcohol/etc. consumption in huge doses, poor diet throughout life, etc. etc. etc.

I'm shocked he's made it this far, really. Not in a, "Can't believe he didn't die from a drug overdose or suicide in the 70s," I mean I can't believe his body held up past his early 50s or so.

I find myself listening to 'Nothing But Love', 'I've Got a Crush On You', and 'The Like I Love In You' quite frequently. 'I got Plenty O Nuttin' has grown on me considerably. 'Someone to Watch Over Me' is my favorite from the album....love that Pet Sounds feel.

Overall it's a fantastic album - many great songs on here.
