What the Curt Boettcher credit or the discography? Wouldn't you like to see those albums on CD?

Not the Boettcher credit. With all due respect: the solo efforts of mr Love are not of any interest to me. It's a personal thing, I guess, because many others can really appreciate them.

Do you collect Curt Boettcher and Millennium? And Association?

Not really collect, but I have 'Begin', and the Sagittarius LP. Love them, but can only take them in small doses. After that, they get a bit too sweet for my tastes. Perhaps that's my main problem with Love also (see: Everyone's In Love With You').

Must be the part of my that likes shambolic, rough stuff. Like Wishbone Ash.

Did Mike really write and produce 'On the Beach' for the Karate Kid movie?

As for Mike's solo stuff, the country album and the Adrian Baker cover versions are awful but some of the other stuff isn't bad at all. It's a shame that most of it is so hard to find so if anyone could Provide Me with some...  :)

He wrote and co-produced the track. The credits are: produced by Mike Love, Adrian Baker & Brooks Arthur.

Is this track available anywhere?

"(Bop Bop) On The Beach" is only available on the motion picture soundtrack album to Karate Kid. Possibly because of contract reasons The Flirts and Jan & Dean are listed as artists on the soundtrack album from 1984 while it´s actually also sung by Mike.

Besides thumbing through thousands of ML 10x12 glossies (the largest collection in the known universe), he  goes to the bathroom on the average of 2-3 times a day.

I had no awareness of this song whatsoever, nor that Jan & Dean had any kind of a new song in national release (fictitious or otherwise) in this time period.  Is the song any good?

I actually don't hate all of LOOKING BACK WITH LOVE.  I remember enjoying side one for what it was -- early '80s cheese.  I always thought his vocal on "On And On And On" was extremely funny, actually.

Not at all. The 45 second version in the movie is FAR more appealing. It's a typical Adrian Baker production that reeks of being a ripoff of better things and ideas.

That, and I'd much rather hear Michael's nasal 1984 voice than Jan & Dean's 1984 voices.

I've tried to listen to LBWL from time to time.  Mike SOUNDS ok.  I actually like his voice on many songs over the years. A key frontman and crucial part of the vocal blend.  I give him his due and respect his astonishing strength and staying power after performing on stage and fronting the band many thousands of times.

But I wonder about his songwriting and producing prowess.  With the solo material as it is, I have to wonder just how much he actually contributed to the Wilson/Love compositions.  For example, If he was the chief lyricist to WOTS, and Brian was the creator of the music and sound, why are the lyrics to his own compositions so banal and uninspiring?  And why not collaborate with another good musician for a melody to put with his fine lyrics, and finally, why not get  a good producer to see that they were recorded and produced properly?

A recent example, Cool Head and Warm Heart is OK but really needs a hooky middle 8 with additional lyrics, and some more harmony....

Can anyone shed any light on a track Mike and Bruce and the band once perfomed for the Country Music channel that used the lyrics Make Love Not War. No to bad a track by my ears.
