The general consensus is sometime in 1976-78. Brian supposedly produced a version during the LA sessions in 1978.

Doe on October 04, 2010, 08:28:51 AM October 6th 1978 at Shangri-La in LA, during the Light Album sessions. it was logged as "Please Darling", but it's the same as the boot that circulates. Mostly it pops up in the middle of the 1976 Love You demo session, but trust me, it don't belong there. :)

Oh, it was an environment that both Dennis & Brian loved; however, as it was still the decadent 70's, and members of The Band were still likely to pop in, but not the wisest place for Brian to record.

Or at least hung out together in some way? I must admit, I would not immediately associate The Band with The Beach Boys. Then again, I would not immediately associate Jackie DeShannon with Randy Newman but there's a connection there, so...
