I did it with "Summer in Paradise". Got the US edition when it came out, sold it after a few listens, then bought a second hand UK edition (better mix) years later. I've grown rather fond of the album, but I still think the drums are too harsh. If they recorded better drumming for this one, it would be a decent album. I particularly like the title song, "Summer in Paradise", with guest vocals by Roger McGuinn. Nice video for that one, too.

Another one that I sold, but will probably get again, is the "Trios" album by Rob Wasserman, with one track by Brian and Carnie.

I gave my old unremastered French edition of "Ten Years of Harmony" to my brother when the remaster came out. Then years later, I found out that a correct single mix was to be found on the unremastered edition, so I bought it back from my brother. I now own both editions on CD.

Not an album but I did sell my New Zealand Pressing of "Sound Of Free" (to one of the regulars here) and it took me several years to find another copy.  I learnt my lesson.

I'm now aware of four copies in captivity.

I don't know that one, is that a BB related album or song?

About 10 years ago, I owned all of the post Holland albums. I didn't like them. I sold all of them. Then several years later, I bought Love You again. Eventually, I bought them all again. Not SIP or SC because I can't find them anywhere. Not that I am looking that hard.

Sound of Free was a single released in 1970 (71?) under Dennis Wilson/Rumbo. You can probably find it on youtube.

Not strictly an album but I sold my entire Japanese PastMasters collection to a second-hand music store upon the release of the 1990's two-fers. At the time I regarded them redundant and thought, "Who's going to need these?" Well, years later, me. I even revisited the store to no avail, of course. Ebay has been my saviour, albeit at sometimes inflated prices and I've now reclaimed over half of them.

I once witnessed a friend sell his lps as he replaced them all with 8 traks.  He had a tremendous collection of rock era lps......pristine and let them all go cheap....he should have known better.  He was a rock writer critic for a couple of papers and had acquired a lot of great music.   He is gone from us now but I'll bet he had regrets about that decision in subsequent days.

Following alll of that I have never let go of anything musical.    I have redundant copies of all BB in nearly every format BUT 8 trak and reel to reel (which I would like to have for my vintage Wolensak reel to reel)

I must admit I'm curious as well. Thus far, I've only seen Dutch, French, UK, and Irish pressings. Never knew about a New Zealand pressing.

By now I get the idea that Stateside might have released this 45 in all countries that they operated (albit it in an unfindable low quantity).

I was wondering along those lines. But how to find out if it's true?

In New Zealand, and presumably in other non-USA markets, all Reprise releases for a few years were on Stateside (owned by EMI) which explains the second version of Cottonfields being released here as a single on Capitol and appearing on the Sunflower album on Stateside. 

Likewise, the various Stateside singles that followed shortly thereafter "Tears In The Morning", "Long Promised Road" and "Don't Go Near The Water".  All these New Zealand singles are fairly rare but none more so than "Sound Of Free".

In my glee to see a New Zeeland Sound of Free, I completely missed the first part;
Why does the Reprise/Stateside connection explain the release of the 2nd Cottonfields on Sunflower?

And Sound Of Free: are there any collectors here that know of 45 releases other than New Zealand, France, UK, Irish, and Dutch?
And have some evidence?
For that matter, anyone have a pic available for the Irish release?
And lastly, since I seem to be having one of those moments,  how did SOF/Lady get released in the countries it did, without seeing at least a simultaneous US release?

Wow wasn't aware that the Lovester co-wrote Sound of Free.

I'll try that again.

Don't forget Stateside was then owned by EMI and the Reprise deal didn't kick in for a few more years outside the US (or perhaps North America).

In other words - it beats me.
