As cool as he's ever been right here:

He's pretty fucking cool.  That Live version of "You Still Believe in Me" he does on the in concert cd proves it.  BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL.  F'it.  I said it, so shoot me.

How about an alternate universe where David Marks stays with the Beach Boys post 1963 and later on in 1965 Al passes an audition and gets a job with the Monkees?

Be warned! Once you have clicked on the link, next time you go on eBay it will throw up many photos of Mike Love as recommendations.

You're right, except it's Carl who features in my recommendations which comes as a relief. Wow I didn't know this topic would liven up my ebaying experience.

I wish Al Jardine great success with the new album, I really enjoy the Live in Las Vegas album, I think PT Cruiser is on there as a bonus track. I wish he would come to Europe, don't know why he canceled the European leg of his tour with Brian, but I guess he was too busy working on the new album. I've seen Al with the Beach Boys twice, in '89 and '92, I think.

Ooh and then he can feud with Davy Jones over who is shorter!

my recommendations now contain 9 pictures of Dennis, 7 of Carl, 3 of the whole band, and 1 of Mike.

Hey! Bruce is awesome. He's an accomplished songwriter in his own right, creates some of the most pleasant schmaltz that's just too lovely to be a "guilty" pleasure, and he's got a swell voice.

Now having been the proud owner of "California Music" for one whole day, it has crystallised the notion that Bruce, Boettcher, Usher etc have the ability to make songs ranging from great, to hilariously bad, to just plain unistenable, without themselves being able to distinguish the difference.

Back on topic, cool or not Al is the BB I'd most like to meet.

Lovely call. If only you'd been around at the time and told them what to record, and what to bin. Oh, Lord Allmighty... music history would've been different.

"Gary this song was a sack of crap the first time you put it out, why the f*ck would you bother recording an identical sounding version? Curt, crossing "Discover America" with bloody "Agadoo" does not a good song make....."            Yeah, I'd be merciless Don.
