Title: Hurricane Katrina and Fats Domino's house Post by: GoogaMooga on August 30, 2010, 10:03:25 AM Fats Domino has lost most of his memorabilia:
from http://oldies.about.com/od/oldieshistory/a/katrinadamage_2.htm Fats Domino's house (1208 Caffin Ave.) Why it's famous: From approximately 1956-1963, only Elvis Presley sold more records than Fats Domino. And unlike his brethren, Fats, a shrewd negotiator, kept most of what he earned. What it is now: Fats has never made any secret of his whereabouts: his brown-and-yellow Ninth Ward house featured the giant initials F-D on the front, along with a star. It's as immodest as he ever got. Depth of water: 6.3 ft. Impact: Miraculously, Fats was able to return and restore his home, though most of his memorabilia is lost. I was the happiest I'd been in months about a day or two later when I saw those awesome photos of him being carried out of his flooded house into a small boat by rescue crews. HELL YEAH! Long live Fats Domino. You know why the memorabilia doesn't matter? ... because he can just make some more. There's only one Fats Domino, though, the good lord won't make any more of him. I was thrilled to see him get rescued.
