Interesting that he plays quite a bit in the 86-90 years which are prime Landy-era years and you are led to believe that his contact with the band is minimal in this period. Though what his relationships were like with them at that time is another matter - Al Jardine criticising his shoes etc....

I saw this show.  Mike was absent.  Carl said he couldn't make it, and much to the chagrin of the other Beach Boys, Brian chimed in with, "He's very sick, in fact he might die!"

Ah, I get my Beach Boy shoe-baiting incidents confused sometimes...

It was 1990 - according to my Beach Boys Fan Club newsletter from that year (yes, I was/am that nerdy) he was doing some literacy project in the States.

Why the ? beside most of the Caesers dates in 1990 and the * on the 24-27 Jan dates in 1989 AGD?

The ? are because I know Brian played one show, but can't confirm the rest.

The * is a reminder to me that he played a solo mini-set within the BB shows, then joined them for the encore.

That made me laugh out loud too...Brian's one-liners kill me.

A really interesting list.  Seems BW was definitely more inclined to be at LA area and Las Vegas shows.  One question, AGD, approximately what percentage of shows, during the years in question, was Brain a part of?  And, if anyone knows, what was Brian's, Landy's, or whomever's criteria for Brian appearing with the BBs?

As for which shows, well, the 4th July, 25th anniversary, Fan Fair, Live Aid & such like gigs were gimmes... some he subbed for Alan... the odd Texas show in 1996 was because the whole band were cutting "Warmth" in Texas with Willie... the Vegas/Tahoe gigs were, I would imagine, because there was a residency therefore the Landy retinue could set up HQ in the hotel... otherwise, I'm guessing Landy decided, up to late 1991 at least.

At the Nashville 1995 show,, did he perform the entire concert with them, or just on the songs that he sang? He sang Don't Worry Baby, and In My Room, I believe. It would be interesting to know how many shows from the above list were complete concerts with Brian, or only certain songs, etc.

From the footage I've seen of the 1996 Nashville show (allowing for creative editing), he was on stage for most of the show (which was pretty short, just 22 songs).

I was at the Nashville Fan Fair show. Brian was onstage for the majority of the time.

I was too young to attend the Grand Falls Newfoundland show back in 1990 (wasn't into them at the time anyways).  My brother went and a girl that he went with sent us pictures of Brian Wilson from that show. Sadly, I lost them.   He is trying to get in contact with her again to scan the pictures and send them.  If I do get them, I will surely post them and/or send them to you.  For years I argued with my brother:  "listen, your confused, there was no way Brian Wilson was in Newfoundland at that time. " He was like " I swear, they all arrived in a helicopter (with Uncle Jessie) and about half way through the set they announced "ladies and gentlemen Brian Wilson."  He remembered he sang on Surfer Girl .  Strange that Brian came ALL the way out to Newfoundland in 90. Weird.

The last time Brian Wilson has played a show in Halifax, NS was August 4, 1991 at the Metro Centre, and it was with The (so-called) Beach Boys. He needs to come back here. :(

In their article on Dennis' death in 1984 they said Brian did some Feb 1984 Lake Tahoe shows at Harrah's . They mention he didn't make the late show.

Thanks for the reply. I don't recall hearing of the solo mini-set before. Any details anywhere?

At the 5/27/89 Pacific Amphitheater show (the one taped for the Endless Summer tv show) Brian only played a solo set and did not perform with the boys

Which shows with Bri were the most Volitile???

Just looking through some old issues of ESQ and came across some photos of the band, with Brian, at a soundcheck and one of the actual performance. These appear under the title "The Beach Boys with Brian at Caesar's Palace, May 1995.
