Title: Brian on"Nightline" Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on August 22, 2010, 12:26:38 PM Surprised nobody's commented on it yet, but Brian was on Primetime this past Friday (or was it Dateline, or 20/20? I get them shows confused). Anyway, there was a brief bit of hype for BWRG, but mostly Brian talking about songs he likes to listen to.
One thing that got me though...did anyone notice how Brian looked? His hair wasn't combed, his sleeves weren't buttoned, and honestly it looked like he had been buttass naked and was surprised by a camera crew and hurried up and got something out of the hamper. That was alarming to say the least. edit...it was "Nightline", not "Primetime". Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Shady on August 22, 2010, 12:31:33 PM I can't even watch those interviews because I know Brian doesn't want to be there.
Hearing how that only makes it worse Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Wirestone on August 22, 2010, 12:36:46 PM Judge for yourself. He looks and sounds perfectly fine.

Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: A Million Units In Jan! on August 22, 2010, 12:56:02 PM I didn't think he looked too bad. His sleeves may not have been buttoned, but I think that's his style-big ass baggy shirts with the first few buttons undone. He doesn't look nice and tidy, but he sure doesn't look as bad as what I thought he was gonna look like.
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: absinthe_boy on August 22, 2010, 12:58:59 PM I've seen Brian looking and sounding a lot worse.....but would agree he could have done with at least a hairdresser give him a decent comb. The shirt I have no issue with, he just looks like he's wearing it with the collar unbuttoned to be comfortable.
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Ron on August 22, 2010, 01:02:43 PM He looks very happy and relaxed to me. The best in all these interviews is when he reverts to being a 5 year old again, proves he's not dead inside there. He'll just be talking normally, and slurred, and then all of a sudden he gets really excited and does something goofy, the interviewer must give him a strange look, and then he goes back to talking normally and slurred.
As for the clothes, I think he's put on a lot of weight the last two years or so, so he's just trying to wear soemthing comfortable. At his age, I say "GOOD FOR YOU, BRIAN!" Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Shady on August 22, 2010, 01:07:09 PM "Brian Wilson, demon-fighting genius." That's a title I could get used to. My god, if the world was right a film would be made with that name Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: jimmyboy on August 22, 2010, 01:46:23 PM Man, this was one of the best interviews ever! He's not nervous or uptight ,he's totally into being there, his hair is thick and freshly shampooed and there is nothing wrong with his shirt. He looks a few lbs smaller than a few months ago. Get over it. He always seems to have a different "favorite" BB song which always cracks me up. I love the guy.
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: STE on August 22, 2010, 02:21:13 PM Definitely one of the best appearances related to the promotion of BWRG.
The quick editing made the interview look much more dynamic than it probably was. Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Mikie on August 22, 2010, 03:19:43 PM Looks like another spur-of-the-moment interview by people who didn't do their homework.
Why weren't The Four Freshman discussed during the interview as a major influence? A MAJOR influence on Brian, I think even more than Chuck Berry. And Rosemary Cloony? And I always read that he had his biggest (at least first) mental breakdown in December 1964. Never knew he had a breakdwn after Sgt. Pepper's was released. And his new favorite beach Boys song - "Don't Worry baby". Never heard that one before......... But at least he remembered Spector and Be My baby. And he added one more - the Crystals' "Da Do Run Run". Title: Re: Brian on Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on August 22, 2010, 03:36:59 PM I guess the collar thing was what really threw me off. It just looked to me that he was gotten up early in the morning with no breakfast and no bath just in time for the interview. That just looked...off somehow.
Speaking-wise though he was fine, and sounded more articulate than he has previously. Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Myk Luhv on August 22, 2010, 03:38:29 PM I know he's been asked what his favourite songs/albums are, but has anyone ventured to ask about songs/albums that he dislikes (BBs' own or other artists')? If so, what has he said? I remember at some point when he was on Charlie Rose he mentioned how he didn't like Johnny Cash's voice because he couldn't sing, but that's all that I've encountered.
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: variable2 on August 22, 2010, 04:28:11 PM lame interview questions is the only reason that this interview falls flat for some people.. if an interviewer actually asked some decent questions, brian would be all over it.
the best part (on the official bw youtube video of the npr interview) was when the lady asked him what he had for breakfast and he said "I had........ 2 donuts and a diet coke for breakfast." Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Day Tripper on August 23, 2010, 12:16:32 AM The Sgt. Pepper comment kind of ticked me off. It almost inferred that his breakdown was a result of Sgt. Pepper being released. I wonder what the producers used as a source for this?
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: PongHit on August 23, 2010, 08:36:19 AM "Brian Wilson, demon-fighting genius." That's a title I could get used to. Nice. And the Australians have decided he's a "certified oddball." ::) http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news/local/25186/Brian-Wilson-replaces-Peter-Gabriel-at-November-concert (http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news/local/25186/Brian-Wilson-replaces-Peter-Gabriel-at-November-concert) Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Shady on August 23, 2010, 08:44:23 AM Certified oddball, can't fight that one can we ;D
Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Ron on August 23, 2010, 09:33:04 AM I know he's been asked what his favourite songs/albums are, but has anyone ventured to ask about songs/albums that he dislikes (BBs' own or other artists')? If so, what has he said? I remember at some point when he was on Charlie Rose he mentioned how he didn't like Johnny Cash's voice because he couldn't sing, but that's all that I've encountered. I've heard somebody recently say he won't listen to "Let It Be" because he got tired of it, and also he dislikes "Sail on Sailor" because he said the lyrics are a mess. I've heard him say in the past too that he thought the organ in "Whiter Shade of Pale" was about his death, so he doesn't like that song. Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Ron on August 23, 2010, 09:36:04 AM Yeah, he kind of is a certified nutball, if a court counts as certification, lol. Anybody who's been appointed a guardian or whatever I guess you could say that about.
I don't know why they have to say all that in a mean spirited, way, though. Why not "Always fun, always entertaining, never normal Brian Wilson " or "Thinking outside the box, still feeling those Good Vibrations Brian Wilson" Title: Re: Brian on\ Post by: Roger Ryan on August 23, 2010, 01:37:18 PM Seriously, Brian is just bored answering these questions...until the Gershwin stuff crops up and you see him brighten. He tries to show some enthusiasm for the favorite song crap, but he just can't fake interest.
